The mahjong league spans five weeks in August, offering a month-long run of play.

Artists are invited to a weekly painting session at The Arts Center Classroom, a collaborative setting where creators can meet, work side by side, and support one another's growth. Participation is free. Tables will be covered, and a wet room is available. Please bring your own supplies and a table easel if needed. Oil and spray paints are not permitted. This relaxed morning social at Earl Graham Legion Hall welcomes veterans and their families. Participation does not require membership, and friends or family may attend.

The Summer Time Trials at Lake Bryan East feature a staggered start with individual results recorded each week to track progress over the summer. Riders can choose a full course of about 5.5 miles that includes technical sections on Octopus, or a shorter option of roughly 3.5 miles that bypasses most of that trail. The route includes Roller Coaster, Octopus, Loop de Loop, Octopus return, Turnback at Wildflower, and Last Call. Staging takes place near the kiosk at the East Side gate. Participants are welcome to ride, cheer, or help with timing.

Each session is $100, with a two-workshop option at $180 and the complete trio at $270. The flowers segment offers step by step guidance to create a vibrant water lily painting from start to finish using oils, acrylics, pastels, or gouache. The birds segment builds a lively, abstract backdrop through a limited palette underpainting while introducing core ideas in drawing and color theory. It welcomes adults and teens, suits first-time painters or anyone curious to try something different, and works well on canvas or heavy watercolor or acrylic paper. This mixed media approach can include acrylics, inks, crayons, and oil pastels, and it adapts nicely for handmade cards that can be mailed and later framed. The landscape segment invites painting the same beach scene twice with contrasting color schemes to explore how color choices shape atmosphere, emotion, and storytelling, again compatible with oils, acrylics, pastels, or gouache. Geared to beginners through intermediate artists, the day encourages using supplies you already have.

The Lost Horizon Arena Saddle Series returns for its 42nd year, carrying on a tradition that began in 1985. The program features a full slate of speed events run in order, including Key Hole, Potato Race, Ring A Pole, Heart Race, Pole Bending, Arena Race, Straightaway Barrels, and Cloverleaf Barrels. Age divisions are offered for 10 and under, 11 to 17, and 18 and over, with additional Open classes for Pole Bending and Cloverleaf Barrels. Day-of entry is 10 dollars per class, while advance entry is 5 dollars per class. Advance entries are accepted starting Monday and must arrive by Friday at 10 p.m. in the week prior to the show. A 15 dollar ground fee covers the entire series, and there is a 15 dollar per day hook up charge with very limited availability. Show rules will be posted. To qualify for series awards, participants must attend at least 7 of the 11 shows and compete in a minimum of three classes for that show to count. Plaques are awarded to first through sixth place in every class, and each age group has a High Point at every show. Year-end honors include a saddle to the High Point rider in each age group, belt buckles for places two through six, and tack for places seven through ten. Champions in Barrels and Poles receive belt buckles as well. For the top four time run average, a minimum of 12 runs is required.
