    Johnson County Hay Show

Cleburne · Cleburne Conference Center, 1509 W Henderson St

The Johnson County Hay Show highlights local forage with a friendly competition and a community program at the Cleburne Conference Center. Johnson County residents may submit hay samples to the office for laboratory analysis, and each participant will receive individual results once testing is complete. Samples must be from this year’s hay grown in the county and may come from square or round bales. For round bales, do not collect from the outer four to six inches, and for square bales, pull from the middle. Submit at least one gallon-size bag of hay, since full bales are not accepted. All samples are analyzed by the Texas A&M Forage Lab, with scoring based on ADF, TDN, and crude protein percentage. Awards include recognition for the top ten percent, Best of Show across multiple categories, and a Best of Show youth entry for 4-H or FFA members involved in hay production. The program features a steak tip dinner, a forage-focused talk, and the presentation of contest awards, with final results announced at the event.
