    Tom Rush

San Antonio · The Tobin Center , 100 Auditorium Cir

Tom Rush delivers a performance of songs and stories that travel the breadth of American music, from tender ballads to raw, bluesy grit. His distinctive guitar work, wry storytelling, and warm, expressive voice create a concert that blends laugh-out-loud moments with reflective, heartfelt tunes. He has left a deep imprint on the musical landscape, helping shape the 1960s folk revival and fueling renewed interest in the genre through the 1980s and 1990s. James Taylor has called him a major influence, and Garth Brooks has ranked him among his top five inspirations. Rush has long championed emerging voices, with early recordings that brought wider attention to Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, and James Taylor, and later Club 47 concerts that helped lift artists such as Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin. His roots trace back to student days in Boston, where regular sets at Club 47 sharpened his craft, and he had two albums to his name by the time he finished college. The result is a set shaped by decades of artistry, filled with humor, heart, and the enduring pull of folk and blues.
