The Shark Is Broken

Set aboard the ORCA in the summer of 1975, this comedic, chaotic and unexpectedly heartfelt play revisits the off camera saga behind Jaws, the film that reshaped Hollywood and kicked off the era of the summer blockbuster. Written by Ian Shaw, son of original star Robert Shaw, with Joseph Nixon, it charts the tension, storms, delays and larger than life personalities that beset the shoot, along with one notoriously uncooperative mechanical shark and a very small boat. Tyler Askins appears as Roy Scheider, Shawn Hardee portrays Robert Shaw, and Jason Chew plays Richard Dreyfuss. Vintage movie atmosphere, big personalities, one tiny boat and one broken shark come together to tell how a troubled production nearly sank the best known shark film of all time.

It starts with a casual potluck mixer where people can mingle, share simple bites, and enjoy meaningful conversation, then transitions into a guided meditation and sound bath featuring singing bowls and calming frequencies to encourage relaxation and a grounded state. Optional intuitive energy work is available during the meditation to support ease, integration, and presence. The potluck is informal and not a seated meal, with time spent standing and visiting, then plenty of room to sit or lie down comfortably for the meditation. Participants who wish to contribute food are invited to bring easy, finger-friendly items to share. For added comfort during the meditation and sound bath, attendees may bring a yoga mat, a blanket, and any pillows or bolsters they prefer, and some mats will be available. Admission is free, with donations welcome. The gathering is facilitated by Brandon Santiago and Lanette Ferguson.

Miss Rodeo, Teen and Princess Guadalupe County

Sparkling crowns, sturdy boots, and plenty of grit set the tone for the Guadalupe County Fair rodeo queen competition featuring Miss Rodeo, Teen, and Princess titles. Contestants balance grace with a deep love for the western way of life, moving from early mornings in the saddle to moments under the arena lights. They represent more than a title, honoring 143 years of tradition with horsemanship and heart. Best wishes to the future 2026 Miss Rodeo, Teen, and Princess of Guadalupe County.
