Developed by Jim Masterson and shared with owners, trainers, and therapists around the world, these techniques offer a practical path to clearer communication and a stronger horse and human connection. A former student described it as a way to connect with a horse on a deeper level. Participants are expected to meet the prerequisite by completing either the book or the DVD beforehand. The course is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork for continuing education credits. Tuition is $545.

All motorcycles are welcome, including cruisers, Spyders, and trikes. The focus is to connect with new and familiar faces and enjoy time on the road together. Attendees are encouraged to share ideas for routes and destinations to help shape future rides, which are planned to continue each month.

The ALPCA Lone Star Region welcomes current members from across Texas and beyond, along with their guests and prospective members, for its Fall Swap Meet at the Temple Public Library in the Gladys Blaylock McLane Room on the third floor. The room is ADA compliant and reached by a staircase or two elevators. It is a bit of a walk from parking, so bringing a dolly or cart for move in and out is recommended. Access begins when the library opens, and attendees arriving right at opening may be asked to help set up tables. Complimentary coffee and doughnuts will be available when doors open. All displays must be free standing or able to lean against the walls, since nothing may be attached to the walls. Lunch will be provided at no cost to attendees. After lunch, a brief business meeting will include the annual review of Region positions (President, Treasurer and Sergeant-at-Arms) and awards, followed by a donation auction. Designed for new or younger hunters ages 9 and up, this classroom session builds core skills in firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics, and wildlife conservation. All course materials are provided. Instruction runs up to six hours of classroom time, and that figure does not include registration, breaks, testing, or handing out certification cards. Certified volunteer instructors lead the course statewide year round. The certification fee is $15, and some instructors may add charges for things like range or facility use. Pre-registration is required. Confirm with the instructor that you are enrolling in the classroom format, and reach out in advance for directions and any special instructions. When you arrive, pay the instructor, stay for the full class, and complete a written test. A score of at least 75 percent is required to pass. After successful completion, you may receive a temporary certification card that, together with a valid Texas hunting license, allows you to hunt legally. The community walk reflects the long journeys many women and children in rural Nigeria make to collect water, offering a way to stand in solidarity and bring attention to this everyday challenge. The effort raises awareness and supports Touch Root Foundation’s mission to expand safe and reliable water access in rural Nigerian communities, bringing water closer to home so daily treks are no longer necessary.

At Santa Fe Plaza in downtown Temple, this 10K ruck march brings the community together to honor veterans and local heroes while giving back. Participants load their rucksacks with nonperishable food that will be donated to Temple Christian Outreach and other local charities, and event proceeds support veteran-led nonprofit organizations so every mile helps those who have served. Individuals, social teams, corporate teams, and 5-member squads are welcome. The course is officially timed, and carrying up to 40 pounds of food is suggested for all and required to be eligible for medals.
