Analog: Wonder

Analog returns to The Stockroom with an evening shaped around the theme of Wonder, featuring a range of voices sharing true stories that reflect on awe and mystery in everyday life and the world around us. The program blends personal narrative with music and creative expression to encourage meaningful connection. Some beverages will be available, and guests may bring their own. Admission is free. Enter through the back door, with an accessible entrance available at the front if needed, and use the main parking lot. The Stockroom operates in a shared space with UBC Waco but functions independently and is not a church entity.

Park Clean Up

Cameron Park Zoo staff host a community cleanup at the Mouth of the Bosque in Cameron Park. The effort focuses on picking up litter and caring for this adopted section of the park. Participants will meet in the parking lot at the Mouth of the Bosque. Trash bags will be provided along with a weigh station to tally what is collected, and aluminum cans will be set aside for recycling. Please bring comfortable shoes that can get muddy or wet, gardening gloves in case there is broken glass, and water. All other supplies will be available on site, and enthusiasm for improving the park is welcome.

2026 Race One 5K & Fun Run

Mission Waco’s annual chip-timed 5K and Fun Run benefits Mission Waco Mission World programs. The neighborhood route features a mix of flat stretches and rolling hills for an enjoyable challenge. Participants can take part in person or virtually, with registration and sponsorship opportunities available.

The Paper Kite Nook Pop-Up Sale

The Paper Kite Nook, a new children’s book resale venture, is hosting its first pop-up sale centered on getting quality books to young readers at budget-friendly prices. To make the occasion extra engaging, the sale pairs with a kids entrepreneurship market where young vendors share their creativity through handmade crafts and fresh lemonade. It is a family-friendly setting that supports building home and homeschool libraries while highlighting the hard work and initiative of budding business owners.

Walk the Arboretum with a Naturalist

Waco Walks hosts a naturalist-led stroll at the Carleen Bright Arboretum in Woodway, focusing on wildflowers, native plants, and the many creatures that share the landscape. Heart of Texas Master Naturalist leaders Aaron Lincoln and Randy King will guide the 1.5-mile route through gardens, groves, and trails while discussing plants, bugs, birds, and other natural highlights. The group meets in front of Whitehall Center, a church replica within the arboretum. Parking is available at the Pavilion at the Arboretum, Woodway City Hall, and Woodway Family Center. Trails include a mix of pavement and gravel. Please bring your own water. Dogs are welcome on a leash, and owners must clean up after them in accordance with arboretum rules. The walk goes on rain or shine, so consider an umbrella if rain is expected. After recent rain, much of the route may be grassy and damp, so choose footwear accordingly. Pre-K Awareness Day

Presented by the Junior League of Waco at the new Bledsoe-Miller STEAM Center, this family-focused event supports caregivers of young children with information about Pre-K enrollment from local school districts. Attendees can explore school readiness resources, speak with education organizations, and access health information and screenings in a setting designed to be enjoyable for kids. There is no charge to attend, and the event welcomes the public.

Healthy Kids Day | Greater Waco YMCA

Healthy Kids Day at the Greater Waco YMCA is a no-cost, family-focused community gathering that encourages active play and healthy habits as summer approaches. All are welcome, including YMCA members and neighbors from across the area. The day features inflatables, soccer darts, inflatable basketball, and inflatable axe throwing. Kona Ice will be on-site selling treats. Activities and booths will be set up both indoors and outdoors, creating plenty of space to move, explore, and connect with partners that include the City of Waco Fire Department, Goodwill Industries International (HOT Goodwill), Lions Clubs International, Hewitt Public Library, Natural Grocers, Purr-Joy Kitten Rescue, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Sip City, Tricity Ministries, Vertical Journey, and Voice. For the well-being of guests and animals, pets are not permitted inside, and bringing pets to outdoor areas is strongly discouraged due to the presence of horses and a kitten rescue group.

Tumble Clinic

This tumble clinic welcomes ages 5 and up and provides instruction for beginner and intermediate tumblers. Coaches will divide participants based on skill level to offer targeted guidance. These clinics run on select Saturday mornings each month throughout the year.

HobbyTown 8th Anniversary

HobbyTown Waco marks eight years with a storewide celebration centered on radio-control fun and generous prize giveaways. The day features an RC parade where enthusiasts can bring their favorite rigs to line up and show them off, followed by raffle activities that lead into the main prize drawings. Top prizes include a Traxxas 1/10 Stampede and a Traxxas 1/18 Bronco, along with additional items provided by sponsors. Running with the Heard

It is geared toward new Harley-Davidson owners as well as anyone interested in how group rides operate. At Church of the Open Door, this community fundraiser supports Hannah as she continues treatment. Hosted by HOTT and sponsored by Capital M Construction and Garage Force of Waco, the event offers trophies across multiple categories with a $25 entry fee, and all proceeds will go toward Hannah’s treatments. Activities include bounce houses, games, and a variety of vendors. Hannah’s journey includes discovering a tumor at 15, undergoing surgery and chemotherapy, facing a recurrence in 2024 that required a complete hysterectomy and additional chemo, and receiving news of another recurrence in February of this year. With the strength of her community behind her, she is ready to fight again.

Boom Town Book Signing Event

Historian Joe Pappalardo signs copies of his new book, Boom Town: The True Story of the Wickedest Town in Texas, and shares the story behind it. The book recounts how, within a year of its founding, Borger, Texas gained a reputation as the wickedest place in the state, becoming a haven for bootleggers, gamblers, and pimps under a corrupt city hall. After the murders of three law enforcement officers, legendary Texas Ranger Captain Frank Hamer enters the scene, threatening to tame the boomtown even at great personal risk. A short Q&A with Mr. Pappalardo will take place in the Hall of Fame. His book Red Sky Morning: The Epic True Story of Texas Ranger Company F will also be available for purchase and autographing.

6th Annual Bellmead Dog Days 🐾

Hosted by Bellmead Animal Control and co-hosted for the first time by the Humane Society of Central Texas, this sixth year celebration brings families, kids, and dogs together at Lions Park Bellmead. Children can enjoy bounce houses and other kid-friendly activities. Dogs are eligible for complimentary DAPPv vaccinations for the first 250 participants and free microchipping to help lost pets find their way home, with low-cost rabies vaccines also available. Local vendors and community organizations will be present. The focus is on keeping pets healthy, safe, and home with the families who love them.

Healthy Kids Running Series Spring 2026

Healthy Kids Running Series features a five week program in the spring and fall that meets once a week for young runners from Pre-K through eighth grade, with age-appropriate races ranging from 50 and 75 yard sprints to quarter mile, half mile, and one mile distances. High school students are included with a 2 mile race. Participants earn points after each event based on how they finish. One registration covers the full five weeks and includes weekly race bibs, a runner shirt, a finisher medal, and any sponsor giveaways. Registration cannot be refunded or transferred, and online early bird pricing increases three weeks before the first race. The Challenger Division offers an adaptive 75 yard race for children with disabilities or special needs, allowing parents, siblings, and friends to support runners on the course, and permitting assistive devices such as crutches, braces, or wheelchairs. Single day entry is available on site one hour before each start and covers one race that day, with the option to upgrade to the full series. These entries also follow a no refund and no transfer policy. Everyone receives a medal in the fifth week, and trophies are awarded to the top overall finishers in divisions for boys and girls, including Pre-K sprints, Kindergarten and first grade, second and third grade, fourth and fifth grade, sixth to eighth grade, High School, and Challenger.

Build a 40-card deck around a single Young Hero using a 55-card pool limited to Common, Rare, and Basic rarities, with at most two copies of any unique card. Rounds are best of one. A recurring meetup for homeschool families brings everyone together to explore number-focused tabletop play in a relaxed setting. It is free to attend and open to drop-ins, welcoming all ages and experience levels. Kids, teens, and parents can jump into a table at any time, learn as they go, and participate at a pace that feels comfortable. Hosted by Cannon Castle at Nexus. Expect strategy titles such as Monopoly and Cashflow, quick card play centered on numbers and probability, market and trading games that involve buying and selling, plus dice play and other number challenges. When there is interest, informal tournaments or larger group games can take shape. Participants are free to move between tables, sample different games, or simply watch. There may also be a collaborative challenge that applies math to real-life questions, like estimating how many LEGO bricks it would take to stack a tower to the height of the room, figuring out how many eight-minute rounds fit into a two hour window, or calculating the total cost to buy every drink in the Nexus cooler. The aim is simple... play games, build confidence with math and money concepts, and enjoy working with numbers. All ages are welcome. Participants 13 and up may be dropped off, while younger children should have a parent or guardian on site. Parents are invited to relax on the couches or at the tables if they choose to stay, read, or get some work done, and free WiFi is available. This event is free. Arcade machines, PCs, and consoles will be off during this meetup. The sandwich shop will be closed, but a self-serve kiosk offers snacks and drinks with card payments only. Families may bring their own food or beverages, and nearby options like Be Kind Coffee are within walking distance. No registration is required, and families can attend as often as they like. To respect privacy, photos shared from the meetup do not show faces.

Tuesday Casual Commander

Enjoy a relaxed take on commander with a custom ruleset and a community-driven vote for prizes. Deck construction follows clear guidelines. Build in bracket three or lower. Two card combos are not allowed. One three card combo is permitted, and combinations that need four or more pieces are fine. Strategies that wipe out all lands are off limits. Only one tax spell is allowed. Spells that can be cast for free are not permitted, and zero cost mana rocks are also prohibited. After play wraps up, participants vote for coolest deck, most functional, and worst time, with the winners in each category receiving prizes.

April Community Meeting and Lunch

A community meeting and lunch centered on emergency preparedness for people with disabilities and their families. Speakers from local emergency operations and the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR) will offer practical guidance to help ensure needs are addressed during a crisis. The program takes place at the Waco McLennan County Emergency Operations Center, with an option to participate online. Lunch is provided by the culinary program at University High School, which has earned awards, and features Cajun flavors. An RSVP is requested to reserve a spot and lunch.

At St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Waco, conductor Eugene Lavery leads the Vox Seraphim Choir and Baroque Orchestra in a program featuring Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat (BWV 243), the festive cantata Wir danken dir, Gott, wir danken dir (BWV 29), and Dieterich Buxtehude’s Magnificat. Bach’s Magnificat sets the Latin canticle for five-part chorus, with two sopranos, alto, tenor, and bass, and Baroque ensemble including trumpets and timpani. It marked his first large-scale liturgical work on a Latin text. In 1723, soon after becoming Thomaskantor in Leipzig, Bach created a twelve-movement version in E-flat major that incorporated four hymns for Christmas, later catalogued as BWV 243.1. Around 1733, likely for the Visitation, he revised the piece without the Christmas insertions, altered or expanded some instrumentation, and shifted the key to D major to better suit the trumpet parts. This revision, known as BWV 243.2, became the customary version after both iterations were published in the 19th century, and it is one of his most popular vocal works. Bach wrote Wir danken dir, Gott, wir danken dir in 1731 for the annual Leipzig town council inauguration, with its first performance at St. Nicholas Church on 27 August. The text, by an unknown writer, includes the opening of Psalm 75 in the second movement and ends with the fifth stanza of Johann Gramann’s hymn Nun lob, mein Seel, den Herren. Scored in eight movements for four vocal parts and a brilliantly colored Baroque orchestra of three trumpets, timpani, two oboes, strings, obbligato organ, and continuo, the cantata opens with an organ-led Sinfonia adapted from a violin partita. The full ensemble supports the first chorus and the closing chorale, while a sequence of three arias and two recitatives is set more intimately. Buxtehude, renowned as organist of the Marienkirche in Lübeck and a celebrated virtuoso, was a major figure in Northern German church music. In 1705, Bach obtained leave from his post in Arnstadt for a month in Lübeck to meet and possibly study with him, a visit that extended to four months. Buxtehude’s Magnificat survives only in a single manuscript from the Gustav Düben collection in Stockholm. The original source named no composer, and Buxtehude’s authorship was added later in brackets. The music shows traits associated with Carissimi or Lully, including lilting triple-time writing, frequent hemiolas, clear sectional design, and straightforward diatonic harmony built largely in thirds. Alternating ornate solo passages with full-chorus sections, along with simple, flowing string lines, creates a direct and energetic effect. Tickets are $20 or $15.

2026 Texas Roller Games

At Skate Waco Bellmead, the 6th Annual Texas Roller Games and South Central Artistic Regional Championships bring skaters together from across the country as they prepare for national competition in Lincoln, Nebraska. The speed program includes practice and registration, elite division racing, two person relays, novice and quad divisions with three and four person relays, a social skate, and outdoor events. Park Clean Up

Cameron Park Zoo staff lead a community effort to tidy the Mouth of the Bosque in Cameron Park, an area they have adopted and continue to care for. Volunteers will meet in the parking lot at the site. Organizers will supply trash bags and a weigh station to track what is collected, and aluminum cans will be separated for recycling. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes that can get muddy and wet, bring gardening gloves in case broken glass is encountered, and carry water. Enthusiasm for helping the park is appreciated, and all other materials will be provided.
