    A free, public Taíno Harvest gathering with Yukayeke Yara Cu offers a welcoming afternoon centered on the sacred yuca and its role in Taíno life in Borikén. The program opens with a ceremony led by Kacike Tekina-eirú, then continues with learning the ancient ceremonial ballgame of Batu, a hands-on casabe flatbread workshop, and uplifting Areyto, the ceremonial songs and dances, with time for community connection beneath pecan trees in the Batey at the Puerto Rican Cultural Center. The casabe tradition, which preserves yuca for long periods and helped communities through storms and lean seasons, sets a spirit of gratitude at the heart of this celebration. Bring a maraca and a beach chair. Yukayeke Yara Cu, the Tribe of the Sacred Place, is a community of Taíno blood descendants and Guaytiao that serves Central Texas and shares living Taíno culture through the Puerto Rican Cultural Center.
