    Kiz Atx Sunday Practicas 2026

Esquina Tango Austin, 209 Pedernales St, Austin · verified Oct 2
    See details

A weekly gathering at Esquina Tango Austin brings the focus to kizomba and urban kiz, highlighting Angolan roots and their connection to Black American culture through ghetto zouk, a sound shaped by R&B and hip hop. The night begins with a class led by Charles Ogar and Alina, then flows into a relaxed practice session. Dancers can drill specific techniques, ask questions, or simply enjoy the music while the instructors circulate with pointers. Partners rotate with each song so everyone gets plenty of time on the floor. New dancers are welcome and the class meets all experience levels. No partner or prior experience is required. Wear shoes that pivot easily, ideally flats or smooth soles, and bring water. Class breakdowns are recorded and added to the Kiz ATX library for review during the week. Parking is available on nearby streets, with an additional lot behind the building, and it can help to arrive a little early on busy nights. Each week builds on the last while staying friendly to newcomers. Presented by Kiz ATX in partnership with Esquina Tango in Austin.
