Free events in Richmond, VA

Participants will share coffee and purposeful conversation focused on building legacies through community and connection, with an emphasis on strengthening partnerships that support education. It takes place at the L. Douglas Wilder Library on the historic Virginia Union University campus, a UNCF member institution. Admission is free, and advance registration is required.

Richmond LGBTQ Chamber hosts a monthly morning networking series on the first Friday. Complimentary drip coffee is provided, and food is available for purchase from the host venue, Gold Lion Community Cafe. Attendance is free for both members and nonmembers. In July, the gathering shifts to the second Thursday in observance of a national holiday.

The museum extends its evening hours for a family-friendly gathering that features complimentary access to the galleries and specials at Commonwealth Café. Hosted by East Coast Card Shows, this free two day gathering at the ACCA Shrine Center in Richmond is among the largest free trading card shows in Virginia. Explore more than 100 vendor tables featuring Pokémon and sports cards, from singles and graded slabs to sealed product, vintage finds and modern releases, along with TCG accessories and other collectibles. Browse anime themed items and card game favorites like One Piece, Disney Lorcana and Magic: The Gathering, plus Funko Pops and related gear. Attendees can buy, sell and trade with local and regional vendors, and the event is family friendly for all ages. Cosplay is welcome, concessions are available on site, and there will be giveaways, prizes and gift bags. Admission is free.

Unwind in a peaceful outdoor setting with a community yoga class by the Umpqua River. Instructors rotate each week, curated by Body Balance Yoga Center to offer a fresh experience every session. There is no cost to attend, and one participant will receive a prize courtesy of Thrive Umpqua. Please arrive a little early to sign in and wear comfortable, stretchy clothing. Bring water and a towel, blanket, or yoga mat. This event is co-sponsored by Roseburg Parks & Recreation, Body Balance Yoga Center, and Thrive Umpqua.

Community yoga gathers at Maymont Park by the Children’s Farm entrance for an accessible session centered on mindful movement, breath, and meditation. Now in its 11th season and its ninth at Maymont, this family friendly class welcomes everyone. Please bring a yoga mat, some water for the summer heat, and friends or family.
