Pump Boys and Dinettes appears at Swift Creek Mill Theatre with a country western musical centered on two neighboring workplaces. The Dinettes, waitresses at the Double-Cupp Diner, join the Pump Boys from the gas station next door to make music together. The musical was created by John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel, and Jim Wann. Methodist Men's 5th Annual Car Show

This event has been rescheduled. The 5th annual Methodist Men's car show, held in collaboration with the Methodist Women as the Hopewell Methodist Church Cars & Quilts Car Show, welcomes spectators at no cost, with proceeds supporting ministries focused on the community. Car owners may register on site for $20 to compete in two divisions, Classic and Modern Muscle. Public voting will recognize the top five entries in each class, and judged awards in each class will honor best interior, best engine, best paint, and Best of Show. The festivities include music, a 50/50 raffle, and door prizes. The Methodist Women will also host a bake sale and offer additional items to benefit their ministries.

2026 Burn Survivor Sunday

Entry is free for a Lorcana League event in a constructed format played across three best of three rounds. The league season starts the week after a new set releases and wraps up with a Top 8 playoff held just before the next set arrives. At Thrive Church’s Chesterfield location, this missions vendor event blends shopping, connection, and purpose. A variety of vendors will be set up both indoors and outdoors alongside food trucks, offering unique goods and plenty of tasty options in a friendly community setting. Proceeds support an upcoming mission trip to Los Angeles, helping fund homeless outreach, children’s ministry, and other community efforts, and the event will take place regardless of weather.

Bumblebee Jamboree

Experience the Bumblebee Jamboree within the Chesterfield Bee Festival at Chesterfield County Fairgrounds. Admission is free and open to everyone. In the Bumblebee Jamboree area, the Chesterfield Extension Master Gardeners offer no cost activities for children. Across the festival, look for free happenings alongside vendors selling food, honey, and crafts.

Dreaming the Miracle

This class, led by A. Logan Hill, features writing exercises and workshop discussions. The class will center around methods of making including "ekphrasis" & "incongruous compatibility" as a means for world-building, in addition to writing through and about dreams. Students will explore how to create broadsides, zines, and other print-related materials including the use of vintage typewriters to create original works. Instruction will focus on creative writing and storytelling with a wide variety of outcomes.

Local Author Book Fair

The Chesterfield County Public Library hosts a book fair highlighting local authors at Central Library. The focus is on writers from the community and their work. Fees for author tables support the Friends.

Stunt Fest

This lively event features a free stunt show by Never Surrender Co., a variety of vendors, on-site tattoos from Off the Cuff Tattoo, a hot dog eating competition, raffles, giveaways, and a bike show. It welcomes motorcycle enthusiasts as well as anyone interested in a day of entertainment and community.

Omelets & Brisket Saturday Brunch

King’s Korner Restaurant and Catering is introducing an all-you-can-eat brunch that features a live omelet station with eggs made right in front of guests and slow-cooked brisket. The menu also offers fried chicken, a salad bar, desserts, and beverages. Pricing is $21 for adults and $11.50 for children ages 3 to 10.

Spring Bagful of Books Sale

Hopewell/Prince George Friends of the Library presents the Spring Bagful of Books Sale at the Hopewell Library in the HMA Room. Readers of all ages can explore a broad selection and take home great deals while supporting the library. Bring a standard-sized grocery bag or reusable tote to fill, the cost is $2 per bag. Agri Supply's Farm Swap (Petersburg, VA)

Agri Supply of Petersburg hosts a community farm swap in the parking lot, welcoming farmers and homesteaders from across Virginia to bring animals, set up spaces, and connect with others. Expect a mix of livestock and poultry available to trade or purchase, including chickens, roosters, sheep, ducks, peacocks, puppies, kittens, pigs, quail, hatching eggs, and goats, with animals presented healthy and in cages. Small local farmers and business owners are featured, with tables offering fresh produce, plants, and homemade goods, from eggs and sourdough to canning and pumpkin, plus more. The All American Eats food truck will be on site. Parking is free in the Agri Supply parking lot. Vendor participation is free. TCRR's Race for the Cause 5k

Set in White Bank Park, this 5k includes race day festivities and directs all proceeds to cancer education, detection, and treatment. Awards are presented to the top three overall men and women, the first Master man and woman, and the top three men and women in each five year age group. Every child participating in the children's events receives a finisher's medal.

The Digs 2026

This two day event features coed 6s on Saturday and men's and women's 3s on Sunday. Free onsite camping is available, and RV site hookups are offered with a refundable $50 deposit. RV hookup space is limited and first come, first served. There is additional space this year to enhance the quality of the courts.

Paint out at John J. Radcliffe Conservation Area on the Appomattox River

An outdoor paint out centered on the Appomattox River, set along the trails of the John J. Radcliffe Conservation Area. River vistas, rocky outcrops, and wooded scenery offer varied subjects for plein air work. The site lies just below Brasfield Dam and the Appomattox River Water Authority at the canoe launch, which includes parking and a slide for small non powered boats. Trails begin here and span 97 acres of forest and wetland, with about 1.5 miles of pathway and more than 500 feet of raised boardwalk, and wildlife is plentiful. Agri Supply's Farm Swap (Petersburg, VA)

Agri Supply of Petersburg hosts a community farm swap inviting farmers and homesteaders from across Virginia to set up, connect with one another, and rehome animals. The gathering highlights small local farmers and business owners. A wide variety of animals may be available to trade or buy, including chickens, roosters, ducks, sheep, peacocks, quail, pigs, goats, puppies, kittens, and hatching eggs. Animals are presented in good health and kept in appropriate cages. Shoppers can also find homemade goods such as eggs, sourdough, canned items, pumpkin, and more, and there will be a food truck on site. The swap takes place outdoors in the Agri Supply parking lot, and parking is free. Vendor participation is free as well; interested sellers should contact the store, speak with the event coordinator or manager for details, and wait for confirmation before setting up. If additional participation dates are added, the team will follow up directly with those who have expressed interest. This event offers a straightforward way to support local homesteaders and farmers.

2026 Appomattox River Greenway 5k/10k

Take on a 5k or 10k along the Appomattox River Greenway on a paved route with gentle elevation changes and water views. A virtual option is available for those who prefer to participate remotely. Participants receive a finisher medal, a technical race shirt, and professional chip timing. Points earned apply to the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack Series, as well as the Spring Series. The course features aid stations at approximate mile markers 1.3 and 1.8 on the 5k, and 1.3, 1.8, 3.1, 4.4, and 4.9 on the 10k, with water at all stations and Gatorade at select stops. Restrooms are available on site. Awards recognize the top three men and women overall, plus first and second place in these divisions: 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and up. Overall podium finishers are not also eligible for age group awards. Live results are provided during the event, with final standings and series points posted afterward. Optional runner tracking can send progress updates to mobile devices for participants and their supporters. On-site packet pickup and race day registration are offered, with shirt sizes for race day registrants not guaranteed. Event parking is available at the Appomattox River Greenway Trail. Volunteers help with water stations, course marshaling, and finish line support, with roles assigned the morning of the event. The race supports Rikki’s Refuge, an organization dedicated to improving the well-being of animals and people through rescue and lifelong refuge for domestic and farm animals, spay and neuter initiatives including TNR for community cats, assistance that helps seniors and low-income pet owners keep their companions, humane education that fosters compassion and inclusion, safe haven for native wildlife, and stewardship of protected woodlands for biodiversity. Course maps, shirt and medal designs, and event photos are shared by the organizer. A recurring social media challenge highlights favorite posts from the prior race weekend and awards a discount toward a future event. The organizer is an all-weather race company and will notify registered runners if plans change due to conditions.
