At Magnuson Theatre in College Hall, a theatrical work brings to the stage the experiences of Dr. Rebecca Stephanis from Gonzaga University’s Department of Modern Languages. In 2023, while volunteering at a large animal sanctuary in the Amazon rainforest, she formed a bond with a puma named Capitán, and that story anchors the production. This interdepartmental effort unites Gonzaga Theatre, Modern Languages, and Religious Studies. The concept was developed by Makaila LeBret ’26, Julia Witherell ’27, Rebecca Stephanis, and Blake Anthony Edwards, with Edwards serving as both scriptwriter and director. Post-show talks feature Dr. Stephanis and Dr. Scott Starbuck of Religious Studies.

The biggest all-local winter art market in Spokane fills River Park Square for a single day, bringing together more than 70 local vendors and artists. Browse thousands of carefully curated, handmade goods, including jewelry, leather pieces, clothing, home items, original art, skincare, candles, ceramics, tea, and more. Live music plays throughout the day and family-friendly activities add to the celebration, creating a joyful sense of community. It is an opportunity to find unique gifts while supporting Spokane creators.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their most outrageous sweaters for the second annual Ugly Sweater and Ornament Surprise fundraiser at Neon Moon. There is no admission fee, and donations are appreciated. Expect Red Dragon appetizers, a DJ, a 50/50 raffle, and an Ornament Surprise reveal. The last of the Ornament Surprise balls will be available to purchase. A prize for the best ugly sweater is part of the fun. Karaoke is also planned. More details will be shared soon.
