Chapter Club offers an easygoing, quiet, and fun read aloud time for children in grades K through 6. Longtime volunteer Mr. Petersilie has led the club for more than 30 years and brings engaging storytelling to every book. Participants choose what to read by vote, and each gathering begins with a brief recap so everyone can follow the story. Midway through, a snack is provided by Mr. Petersilie. Kids are welcome to listen, work on homework, color, or do crafts with supplies available at the library. New readers can start at any point and everyone is welcome.

This Garden Party takes place in the North Woods International School Garden, where Ms. Jessica leads interactive, garden themed activities. Attendees will also have time to explore the garden during the event. There is no admission charge and anyone may attend.

Riverside Park"Nightscapes"
At Riverside Park, conductor Mark Lakmann leads Nightscapes, a program inspired by the allure of nighttime views where the starry sky meets the landscape. A nightscape portrays scenery after dark, blending celestial and earthbound elements, and appreciation is given to Karen Lee for sharing a photo of the sky and Mississippi River shoreline. The music reflects the evening theme with selections such as Looking at the Stars by Travis Cross, Midnight by Frank Ticheli, Evening Song by Rheinberger arranged by S. Hanson, Mars by Gustave Holst arranged by Bocook, Late in the Evening by Paul Simon arranged by Jay Dawson, and Fly Me to the Moon by Bart Howard arranged by Hoshide. This free concert opens with the National Anthem and includes a Children’s March. Major support is provided by the La Crosse Area Community Foundation’s Ella Ambrosius Fund. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will move to Logan High School, with any changes announced on Facebook.

An in-person support group at the Franciscan Spirituality Center welcomes anyone seeking mental health wellness, connection, and hope. Participants meet weekly to listen and learn from one another, and educational information about mental health is shared. The space is intended to be safe and respectful, and what is shared is treated as confidential. There is no expectation to speak, and you may simply listen if that feels right. Registration is not required, and you can attend any or all sessions as your schedule allows. The group is facilitated by Therese Ann Roellich along with other support people. Therese is trained as a Peer Support Specialist with the state of Wisconsin and brings lived experience in recovery from mental health conditions and substance use addiction, with many years of advocacy for people living with addictions, mental health conditions, and homelessness. Thunder Ride 2026 gathers a community of riders to support local families living with Type 1 diabetes, aiming for a future where juvenile diabetes is no longer the reason why. Annual Classic & Custom Car Show
Hosted at Morrie's Onalaska Chevrolet, this annual car show spotlights classic and custom vehicles and welcomes entries of every make, model, and year. Spectator admission is free, and there is a $10 entry fee per vehicle for participants. Thirty trophies will be awarded. Food will be available from Big Boar BBQ. All show proceeds benefit Wafer Food Pantry.
QuiltFest on the Mississippi
QuiltFest on the Mississippi brings a biannual celebration of quilting to the Onalaska Omni Center, presented by the La Crosse Area Quilters. Expect a showcase of hundreds of quilted pieces along with a boutique featuring quilts and handmade goods, vendor booths, basket raffles, a quilt raffle, and demonstrations offered throughout the event. Quilt entries are eligible for cash viewer’s choice awards. The La Crosse Area Quilters also offer membership with monthly meetings, programs and retreats, and opportunities to share work and connect with a community of more than 160 quilters.
Onalaska OmniCenter24th Annual Down Syndrome Awareness Walk
This 24th annual DSAW-La Crosse walk for Down syndrome awareness brings families, friends, and supporters together at RW Houser YMCA in Onalaska to celebrate abilities, build awareness, promote acceptance, and highlight the importance of inclusion. The schedule includes registration and a family festival, a 21 Showcase with an awards ceremony, a coordinated walk on the YMCA trail, and a close that features raffle announcements, with winners required to be present to claim prizes. The festival offers games, bounce houses, face painting, raffles, interactive activities, and more. Registration is $21 per walk participant, and individuals with Down syndrome may register at no cost. Participants who register by the t-shirt deadline are guaranteed an event shirt on walk day, and no extra shirts are ordered after that deadline. Individuals with Down syndrome of all ages are invited to take part in the 21 Showcase and walk the red carpet in front of family, friends, and supporters. Volunteer opportunities are available.
Onalaska YMCAF/W Business Owner Brunch
Twice each year, in spring and summer and again in fall and winter, local business owners gather at an independently owned spot for relaxed conversation over refreshments. It is a casual meetup centered on talking shop. There are no fees or formal requirements, everyone covers their own tab, and attendees can stay for the whole time or pop in briefly. Participants are welcome to bring a friend.
Pet Expo LAX
Pet Expo LAX is a charitable celebration of animals and the people who love them, presented by the Alliance of Wisconsin Animal Rehoming Efforts. All admission and raffle proceeds support AWARE’s mission to improve the lives of companion animals across Wisconsin. Explore more than 100 exhibits with interactive learning areas, animal shelters and rescues, and vendors highlighting new pet products and services. Meet adoptable animals and discover care tips for cats, dogs, reptiles, and small pets. Featured attractions include Windy Kitty Cat Club’s ACFA Championship & Household Pet Cat Show, the Reptile Education Area with encounters involving snakes, spiders, and lizards, the Small Animal Education Station focused on pocket-pet care, and Kids Place with activities and pet-focused learning for all ages. The Product Showcase and Auction offers a chance to bid on new items from exhibitors, with proceeds benefiting homeless pets in Wisconsin. Personal pets are not allowed, and service animals trained to assist a person with a disability are welcome. No animal sales take place at this event. Tickets are available at the door.
