Groups & Meetups

LGBTQ 50+ East Side Coffee Meet-up

A friendly coffee gathering welcomes LGBTQ adults aged 50 and over at Java Cat Coffee House. Attendees choose and pay for their own beverages, treats, or a meal, or simply enjoy water and conversation. Weather permitting, the group sits outdoors. No RSVP is needed. The 50+ Alliance, a collaboration between OutReach LGBTQ+ Community Center and Madison Senior Center, organizes this meet-up. Online reviews mention wheelchair access, wide hallways, and convenient parking, and the organizers are working to confirm accessibility details directly. For questions or to explore starting a social or support group for the LGBTQ 50+ community, contact the OutReach Elder Advocate, Lynn, at lynnc@lgbtoutreach.org.

Just Merl and A Girl at The Lazy Oaf Lounge

Co-workers and friends gather for patio music each Tuesday, paired with a menu of delicious food and daily drink specials. Over the past few years, Merl has taken on plenty of John Pine requests, and new song selection challenges are part of the tradition. Expect an upbeat, entertaining atmosphere and a reliably fun time.

Yoga & Trail Run

A two-part session at the UW-Madison Arboretum starts with yoga near the visitor center and then shifts to a group trail run through the arboretum, typically covering about 5.5 to 6.5 miles. The run accommodates a range of paces and ensures no one is left behind. Bring a mat or towel for the yoga portion.

Summer Trivia Tuesdays

Local-themed trivia and tastings take over The Deliciouser in a summer series led by BJ the Spice DJ with synth sounds from Alex Riley of Yakuza Jacuzzi. Questions focus on Wisconsin events, Madison history, and a few spice-inspired twists, paired with the lively spirit of the venue’s smash burger pop-ups. Admission is free, no reservations are needed, and teams are welcome. Blending burgers, beats, and brainteasers, this Tuesday gathering offers a playful alternative to the usual pub quiz, with the kitchen serving during the event.
