Sharpsburg Civil War Ghost Tours and High Priestess Tarot Now thru November @ Bender's Public House

    E. Main Street , Sharpsburg, MD, United States, Maryland 21782, 122 E Main St, Sharpsburg · verified Sep 13
    See details

Sharpsburg Civil War Ghost Tours teams up with High Priestess Tarot for a combined experience based at Bender’s Public House and Eatery, pairing 90-minute guided walks with personal card readings. The tour follows sidewalks and alleyways in what is described as America’s most haunted Civil War town, sharing vivid accounts drawn from local history and long-told encounters. Stories trace a path from the site of a single devastating artillery blast to a cemetery where leaning headstones and strange whispers unsettle passersby, then to the tale of a spectral rider on a white horse said to appear to misbehaving children, and finally back to Bender’s for the legend of the Black Dog. Another route explores how Sharpsburg residents cared for the wounded and buried the dead after the battle, alongside reports of ghostly Confederate soldiers seen moving quietly west toward the Potomac at night. Along the way, guests may hear about Jacob McGraw, Charley King, a lone Confederate sentry, experiences tied to the Rohrback House, a shattered artillery piece, and the lore of Indian Head Hill, also known as Copperplate Hill. Tours are walking experiences that last about 90 minutes, reservations are required, and admission is $15 for guests over 17 and $10 for ages 10 to 17. Active duty military may tour at no charge. Tarot readings are offered by appointment for $15, take about 15 minutes, and are available before the tour. To reserve either the tour or a reading, email hauntedsharpsburg@gmail.com.
