In honor of National Public Lands Day, Alaska Trails and the Sierra Club Alaska Chapter are organizing a stewardship day on the Flattop Sunnyside Trail. Volunteers meet and later return to the Flattop Sunnyside Trailhead while tackling brush clearing with handsaws and loppers and working to enhance trail tread and address drainage. This project is sponsored by the Chugach Park Fund.

A Saturday get-together at Chanshtnu Muldoon Park features local vendors, musicians, and artists in a relaxed community setting. Attendees can browse goods, enjoy music, connect with creators, and unwind in the park.

Tier 1 Cards & Games hosts a weekly Gundam card tournament where players bring their best decks to compete for bragging rights, exclusive promotional items, and plenty of Mobile Suit excitement. New and experienced participants are welcome, with friendly rivalries and chances to meet other fans while improving your game each week. Bridge Builders of Anchorage marks three decades of community building with Taste the World International Potluck at Spenard Recreation Center. Founded in 1996 with a commitment to help Anchorage grow free of prejudice and to advance efforts against racism in Alaska, the organization continues to promote harmony and respect among all cultures. This celebration honors its beginnings, which trace back to a first potluck in then mayor Rick Mystrom’s garden, by bringing people together for conversation over shared food. Guests are invited to bring a dish from their cultural background to share and to include an ingredient list to support allergy awareness. The gathering highlights diversity, friendship, and community through the simple act of sharing a meal.

Pitch in with Alaska Native Plant Society volunteers to care for the native wildflower gardens at the Campbell Creek Science Center. Gardening tools are supplied, making it easy to help with maintenance while learning hands-on techniques for cultivating native plants. Participants can get to know wildflower species that thrive in Southcentral Alaska and contribute to stewardship of public lands. RSVP is requested through the CCSC garden work party signup sheet, and a range of day and time options are available.

Explore how classic fiber arts meet fresh creativity in a calm, welcoming setting. Across two relaxed sessions, you will first form a wool ball from scratch through wet felting, working with water, soap, and steady pressure until the fibers tighten into a smooth, sturdy sphere with its own character. In the follow-up session, you will bring it to life with embroidery, using colorful floss and the traditional chain stitch to wrap your piece in pattern, texture, and color. Rooted in the Waldorf handwork tradition, this mindful process encourages you to slow down and enjoy each step. No prior experience is required and all materials are provided. Open to ages 12 and up. The workshop fee is $85.00.
