Volunteers are needed to help protect local waterways on Earth Day through a roadside litter cleanup in Springdale. The effort focuses on preventing litter from entering the local water source. 2026 Lake Fayetteville Spring Cleanup
Lake Fayetteville welcomes volunteers for a community cleanup focused on removing litter from trails, streets, park areas, and the water. Canoes and kayaks will be available to borrow, and paddlers bringing their own boats are encouraged to target shoreline debris that is difficult to reach from land. Participants can help by paddling the shores, visiting known litter hotspots with friends or family, pitching in as a group with a preassigned area and ready-to-go supplies, assisting with recycling or event breakdown, or wearing rain boots, muck boots, or hip waders to work along muddy banks. Check in at the Lake Fayetteville Marina, with an additional check-in option at the Ozark Natural Science Center at Lake Fayetteville. Paddlers bringing boats should use the science center site. Parking is limited there, and large groups should check in at the marina. Upon arrival, volunteers receive supplies, instructions, and a cleanup assignment. Closed-toe, ankle-supportive footwear is recommended. Light snacks will be provided, and participants are asked to bring a refillable water bottle. The cleanup will proceed in light rain, with possible delays in the event of thunder or lightning. If heavy rain is expected to continue, the event may be postponed or canceled, with updates shared on the City of Fayetteville Facebook page. Visitors can meet coaches and team members, talk through questions, and head out on brief try-it-out trail rides with them. Families can connect with students and parents and complete on-site registration for the team. Team members can earn volunteer hours by helping set up the tent, assisting on trail rides, speaking with interested attendees, and pitching in during takedown. There will also be a GRiT ride for girls, moms, and grandmas on the Lake Fayetteville Bike Path, not the trail, with a stop for something sweet, and any bike is welcome.

Celebrate peak spring migration at Lake Fayetteville with casual, drop-in bird walks hosted by the Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society. Local birders lead relaxed outings at a prime regional hotspot to watch warblers and other seasonal travelers. Walks begin from the parking area at the Northshore Disc Golf Course, no registration is needed and beginners are welcome... just bring binoculars and curiosity. The route is an easygoing 1 to 2 mile stroll on uneven dirt paths and mowed fields, heading east from the parking area along the treeline on the north side of the lake. The group typically makes it near the ONSC Environmental Center before turning back. If arriving after the start, it is usually simple to find the group by following the shoreline trees to the east and looking for people with binoculars. The walk loops back to the parking area, and participants can peel off earlier or stay longer as they prefer. If heavy rain or lightning is in the forecast, treat the outing as cancelled and use personal judgement, as no special notices will be issued.

From the south, take Hwy 16 to Boston, then continue north on Madison County Roads 3175 and 3145 for 4.5 miles and turn left on CR 3500 a short distance to the Kings River Falls parking area. From the north, take AR 127 off Hwy 23 at Aurora and follow it as it becomes Madison 3345, then about 10.5 miles from Aurora turn right onto Madison 3500 and continue about 1.5 miles to the parking area.

Through live demonstrations with clear, step by step instruction, attendees learn foundational techniques such as soft washes, layering, and confident brushwork. There is also dedicated time to paint with individualized support, and participants leave with completed artwork along with the confidence to continue practicing at home. A curious, open mindset is encouraged, letting water and color guide part of the process. Two pricing options are available. The fee is $45 if you bring your own materials, or $55 to use classroom supplies, which include paints, brushes, and all materials for use during class. A seat is reserved once payment has been received. If bringing your own supplies, plan for two sheets of watercolor paper sized 8 by 10 or larger. Arches is a preferred brand, though any paper you have will work. Suggested brushes include round sizes around 4 and 14, a flat brush about one half inch or three quarters of an inch, and a liner or detail brush roughly size 0 to 4. Ace pot participants are eligible for a payout if they record a hole-in-one during competition. If no aces are made, the pot rolls to the next Arkansas Flex Start event. Forts & Friends Summer Camp
A five-day summer camp invites children ages 6 to 10 to unplug, explore the outdoors, and construct imaginative forts and hideaways. The experience blends hands-on art, adventurous play, and faith-centered character growth to nurture creativity, build confidence, and spark curiosity. Each day includes nature walks and discovery across 12 acres with a spring-fed creek, process-focused art inspired by the natural world, team challenges and creative movement, gentle faith lessons woven throughout the day, generous time for unstructured play, and healthy snacks. The aim is a safe, caring setting where kids connect with nature, build friendships, and head home feeling energized, inspired, and self-assured. Enrollment is intentionally limited to 7 campers for a highly personal experience. Early bird tuition is $250 and the regular rate is $275. A $50 non-refundable deposit reserves a spot, and the remaining balance is due 14 days before the session begins.
