    Part of the Summer in the City series at the Jones Center, this overnight experience invites families and friends to share a night under the stars as the Community Campout returns for its third year. It is welcoming for first-time campers and seasoned pros alike, with staff available to help set up tents and introduce basic outdoor skills. Pop-up learning stations add to the adventure with wilderness know-how, kid-friendly crafts, and hands-on nature exploration. Expect classic camp fun like campfire cooking, lawn games, and live music, plus a late-night movie and a morning yoga session for all ages. Dinner features hot dogs and hamburgers with all the fixings, along with chips and sodas. Dessert means building your own s’mores, and breakfast includes a yogurt bar, fruit, and muffins. Campsites accommodate up to six people. You can select a 2, 4, or 6 person tent during registration while supplies last, or bring your own if you prefer. The setting is North Community Park at the Jones Center, within a fenced area on the west side of campus, with security on site around the clock. On-site restrooms, easy parking and unloading, and helpful staff keep things comfortable. Pack seating, bedding, and other sleepover essentials. Open to all ages, and anyone 17 or younger must attend with an adult. Pricing is per campsite at $50 for the public and $40 for members.

In 2024 the site took on the name Vera’s Victorian Garden and received the Arkansas Master Gardener Project of the Year award.

    Returning for its 12th year, Casa de la Cultura Mexicana brings its Día de Muertos celebration to Luther George Park in Springdale, Arkansas. Attendees can expect an arts and crafts area, food and artisan vendors, and a full program with more than six performances by NWA Latino artists sharing Mexican and Latin music. Performers include Ballet Folklorico Herencia de México, Sensación Latina, Marcy Chávez with Co Jackie, JP el Alma Vieja, Grupo Folklorico Quetzal, Duo Divinas, Trio Hermanitas Alvarez, and Mariachi Los Potrillos. Leading up to the celebration, activities at the park include art and craft workshops, altar building, and a community ofrenda. The event is free, suitable for all ages, and welcomes people of all backgrounds to experience, observe, and participate in the traditions. Rooted in a rich blend of pre-Columbian practices and Catholic influences, Día de los Muertos is observed across Mexico and Latin America as a time to honor loved ones who have passed and to greet their return among the living.
