A monthly guided walk through Vera’s Victorian Garden invites the public to explore the museum’s Ozark heritage plantings with insights from Benton County Master Gardeners. Set on the south lawn of the museum’s Hawkins House in downtown Rogers, the garden honors Vera Key, a museum co-founder and the first chair of the Museum Commission. Established in 1989, it was revitalized in 2022 through a collaboration with the Benton County Master Gardeners and the City of Rogers Parks Department, transforming it into an Ozark Victorian flower garden that extends the educational experience of the 1895 home. The entry fee is $799 per vehicle and includes a kickoff gathering at a location to be announced, 4-star accommodations at the Burgundy Hotel for one night, breakfast on the starting grid at Landers Toyota NWA, a group lunch at the historic Oark General Store, breakfast at the Burgundy Hotel, and a finale event with lunch at Land Rover of Little Rock. Returning for its 12th year, Casa de la Cultura Mexicana brings its Día de Muertos celebration to Luther George Park in Springdale, Arkansas. Attendees can expect an arts and crafts area, food and artisan vendors, and a full program with more than six performances by NWA Latino artists sharing Mexican and Latin music. Performers include Ballet Folklorico Herencia de México, Sensación Latina, Marcy Chávez with Co Jackie, JP el Alma Vieja, Grupo Folklorico Quetzal, Duo Divinas, Trio Hermanitas Alvarez, and Mariachi Los Potrillos. Leading up to the celebration, activities at the park include art and craft workshops, altar building, and a community ofrenda. The event is free, suitable for all ages, and welcomes people of all backgrounds to experience, observe, and participate in the traditions. Rooted in a rich blend of pre-Columbian practices and Catholic influences, Día de los Muertos is observed across Mexico and Latin America as a time to honor loved ones who have passed and to greet their return among the living.
