Take the first steps toward solo skydiving with a focused training course designed for students who have already completed a tandem jump. It begins with a six hour ground school that covers equipment, emergency procedures, gearing up, exiting the aircraft, and other essentials. Plan to bring food or snacks so you can stay fueled during the session. Training continues the next day or whenever your schedule allows. You return to the airport to review what you learned, study an aerial map, create a jump plan with an instructor, and then make a training skydive with the instructor right beside you. There are two pathways to choose from. Instructor Assisted Deployment is $110 per jump and starts around 5,000 feet using the wing strut for training exits. As skills build, the exit altitude increases up to 10,500 feet. One way radio guidance is provided for the first three to five skydives. Accelerated Free Fall is $225 per jump and begins at 10,500 feet with two AFF instructors holding on while you perform specific tasks during each exit. After three to five skydives with two instructors, you progress to a single side instructor. One way radio guidance is also provided for the first three to five skydives. If you recently started AFF at another location and can show a logbook, you may continue with one instructor at $185 per skydive, typically for three to five jumps. After meeting the IAD or AFF requirements, students move on to coach jumps at $95 per jump, where a licensed skydiver exits with you to advance skills and knowledge. Recurrency training is available for those returning after time away from the sport. The next milestone is the A License. Cash and credit cards are accepted.

The 3rd Annual Save the Pumpkins Tournament welcomes women golfers to Galla Creek Golf Course and Country Club for a two-person team scramble. Entry is $60 per player or $120 per team, with optional mulligans available for $20. Registration includes a mimosa bar, and the round gets underway with a shotgun start. Lunch is provided, and a portion of the proceeds benefits the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.

Music Fest V brings back the Ryan Harmon Band as the headliner, showcasing an Arkansas singer and songwriter with more than two decades of experience. A former American Idol contestant, Harmon has been highlighted by Billboard, USA Today, and NPR Music. His style draws influence from Travis Tritt and Van Halen, and he earned the 2022 ACMA Acoustic Act of the Year. He has shared the stage with artists ranging from Grand Ole Opry member Chris Janson to 90s metal act SteelHeart. His 2024 release, The High Road, features some of his most personal songs along with a guest appearance by country artist Jerrod Niemann, and this set features his full band. MoonshineMafia adds a powerful dose of country, blues, and southern rock, led by Anna Brazeal, known as Boss Lady. An Arkansas native and HSU graduate, she has built a respected career across Texas, Tennessee, and beyond, moving from honky tonks and blues clubs to festival stages in the United States and overseas. Formed in 2010, MoonshineMafia is rooted in authentic musicianship and southern storytelling, with songs that leave a mark and offer healing in equal measure. Perry Mason Project rounds out the lineup with an acoustic trio of Clint Mason, Jeff Perry, and Skylr Mahoney. With guitars, tight harmonies, and a love of strong songwriting, they deliver a stripped back sound that feels both fresh and familiar. Expect Americana, Red Dirt, and country favorites including songs by Turnpike Troubadours, Jason Isbell, and Whiskey Myers, all presented with an intimate, harmony rich approach. CB Productions provides professional sound. Food will be available from Circle K Angus Farms with farm raised meats. This is an outdoor gathering, so consider bringing a cooler with your preferred beverages, chairs, a canopy, bug spray, sunscreen, and snacks. The event is in a dry county and alcohol is not sold on site, so stock up before arriving. No underage drinking is permitted. Actual bathrooms are available. Canopy rentals are offered for $50 and include setup in a prime spot with four chairs, with tickets sold separately, and easy check in on arrival. Primitive camping is available for $10 per campsite, with check in required before gates open. For everyone’s safety and comfort, no pets, illegal drugs, or weapons are allowed, and please keep the grounds clean by disposing of cigarette butts properly. Security will be on site and parking is well lit. Attendees must be 12 or older. Tickets are $20 and are available for purchase.

Celebrate Harvest Fest with a family-friendly glow-themed run and walk featuring a 5K and a 2K just for kids. Glow paint and glow jewelry are provided so everyone can shine on the course. Online pre-registration includes a race shirt and participation medal, while walk-up registration is $20 and does not include a shirt or metallic medal. The 5K recognizes overall male and female runners and walkers, and each overall winner receives six free entries into the St. John Harvest Fest raffle. The raffle offers three cash prizes of $2,500, $1,000, and $500, and because there is no redraw on repeat winners, one person could claim as much as $4,000. Young racers can compete for age-group awards, with boy and girl winners receiving five free tickets to enjoy the Harvest Fest food and game booths. Entry is $30 for the Kids 2K and $35 for either the 5K Glow Run or the 5K Glow Walk.

This buckle series requires participation in at least two of the four rodeos to be eligible for awards. There is no gate fee and no membership requirement. Every competitor is required to complete a liability waiver, and an adult must sign for anyone under 18. Registration takes place on the day of the rodeo, and CND will offer concessions. The program moves from poles and breakaway roping into chute dogging and mutton bustin, then continues with PeeWee calf riding and Junior steer riding. Helmets and vests are mandatory for those two riding events. After a lunch break there is a Cowboy Church service followed by the Grand Entry, then the action wraps up with barrel racing and team roping. Divisions include PeeWee for ages 11 and under, Junior for ages 11 to 15, and Open for ages 16 and up. A $20 stock fee per person applies to events that use calves or steers, and for team roping the fee is $20 total per run.
