Caregivers and relatives may attend, and the group is open to the broader community. The program is approved by the American Stroke Association and centers on face-to-face connection, education, and emotional support to help participants move forward together.

Adults 50 and older can enjoy a lively dance with live music from the Thaddeus Rose Band at the William L. Patena Community Center. A Chicken Alfredo dinner is included, and there will be prize raffles along with a 50/50 drawing. Registration is $10 and includes dinner. Registration is open, and space is limited.

Drummer and bandleader Fred Boswell Jr. presents a high-energy performance that highlights his widely sought after skills and broad command of rhythm. Expect a mix of punk rock, gospel, old school R&B, and Latin influences, delivered with infectious energy. His credits include collaborations with Deitrick Haddon, Erica Campbell, and Isaac Carree, along with work with Frank Gatson connected to Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal.

This community art expo celebrates imagination and originality for young creators. Participants receive a free canvas to create an original piece with no set theme, and every completed work will be showcased during a gallery display at Avondale City Hall. The expo takes place at the Avondale Civic Center, City Hall Building. Pre-registration is required. Awards are presented in three age groups, 5 to 8, 9 to 12, and 13 to 17. The schedule includes a registration period, a time to pick up canvases, and a drop off window, with pickup and drop off available at Mountain View Community Center or Avondale City Hall. After drop off, artwork remains on view during the gallery display at Avondale City Hall. The event is held rain or shine. Participation in all activities is at your own risk. Only authorized vendors and exhibitors are allowed. Park and city hall properties are smoke free, including no vaping or smokeless tobacco.

All riders are welcome for a relaxed night outing that embraces any bike style, including fixies, mountain bikes, eBikes, gravel, and road. Participants meet at Rio Vista and cover roughly 10 to 18 miles after dark. Helmets are required for everyone. Bring a front and rear light, and come prepared with plenty of water. Arizona conditions can be demanding, so carry as much hydration as you can, with stops planned as needed to refill and rest.
