Discover the story of a landmark home crafted in 1898 by Hiram Clay Kellogg, among the earliest Neoclassical Victorian residences in Orange County. After the death of his first wife, he built a grand mansion for his second wife, Helen, reflecting his love of tall ships with a three-level spiral staircase wrapped around a mast-like center and a crow’s nest that opens to nothing below. Hiram died in 1921, and Helen remained in the house for another 42 years, passing away there as well.
