At Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Attacca Quartet launches the season with a program that creates a vivid conversation between Beethoven and composers shaped by his legacy. Known for a crystalline sound, propulsive rhythm, and adventurous programming, the ensemble sets Beethoven’s Op. 131 alongside works by Caroline Shaw, Paul Wiancko, and Radiohead, tracing connections that span centuries of musical thought. Beethoven’s late quartet, prized for its seamless architecture and deep introspection, is considered one of chamber music’s great achievements. Heard in the company of today’s most imaginative voices, it emerges not as a relic, but as something vital and of the moment. The result is an opening statement that honors Beethoven as both a starting point and a living influence.
