Sessions cover core behaviors such as sit, down, stay, stand, reliable recall, and watch me, along with polite greetings, sitting calmly for petting, loose-leash walking, focus around distractions, impulse control, and preparation for the Canine Good Citizen evaluation. Puppies younger than one year may test for the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy title after completing six classes, which is a helpful first step toward the CGC program. The series is offered weekly and the cost is $350 for six classes. Instruction is led by Aaron Wood with Aaron’s Pawsitive Coaching. Dogs must remain on leash at all times. Dogs in heat are not permitted. Harsh corrections, e-collars, prong collars, shock collars, and retractable leashes are not allowed. Please give other dogs and handlers plenty of space, and plan for one adult handler per dog. Bring vaccination records with identification, high-value treats, a standard 6-foot leash, a 15 to 20 foot long line for distance practice, water for both you and your dog, potty bags, and an optional chair. All sessions take place outdoors, so dress for the weather and plan for a positive, enjoyable training experience. A waiver applies that releases Aaron’s Pawsitive Coaching, event organizers, and the City of Rocklin or Roseville from liability, and attendance constitutes consent to photography or filming for promotional use.

This renewal course is designed for current concealed carry permit holders from Sacramento, Placer, Yuba, and Sierra counties. The training includes a live-fire qualification at the Lincoln Rifle Club, Dillman Range, followed by classroom instruction at EWG Guns. It satisfies the minimum training requirement for renewal and covers firearms safety and handling, dry and live fire techniques, safe storage practices, lawful transport by vehicle and airplane, securing firearms in vehicles, where permit holders may legally carry, permissible use of a firearm, lethal force and self-defense, and suicide awareness and prevention with a focus on mental health. Participants should bring a pen and paper for notes, eye and ear protection, clothing suitable for the weather, and avoid low-cut tops. Bring the firearms you plan to list on your renewal application and at least 100 rounds of ammunition for each; some calibers may be available for purchase in store. Tuition is 180 dollars, or 175 dollars if paying in cash, and full payment is required to reserve a spot. A 25 dollar cash range fee is due at the class.
