Monterey Car Week starts with a Downtown Monterey showcase from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Alvarado Street, near the Monterey Conference Center and Portola Hotel and Spa, features 30 classic race cars, opportunities to meet the drivers, live music, and giveaways.

Midtown Fridays returns for its sixth summer, transforming Midtown Santa Cruz into a free weekly block party filled with local music, food and community energy. Across the season, 14 Santa Cruz bands take the stage while a rotating mix of favorite and new food trucks serves up bites. Local artists, makers and vendors set up shop, specialty drinks add to the festive mood, and family friendly activities plus surprise moments keep each week fresh. This edition spotlights Trestles on the live music lineup. Now a beloved summertime tradition, it celebrates local music, independent businesses, creativity and community. Presented with support from the City of Santa Cruz Economic Development Department, with partners including Caitlin Phillips, Realtor, Santa Cruz Warriors, Santa Cruz Vibes Magazine, The Starving Musician, Lookout Santa Cruz, Moe’s Alley, Good Times and Growing Up In Santa Cruz.

Woodhouse Blending & Brewing hosts a Days Between tribute to the Jerry Garcia Band, with Tiger’s Tale performing covers that span R&B, Motown, reggae, country rock, and soul. Suggested contribution is $10 per person with a pay-what-you-can option, and everyone is welcome. The lineup includes Jim Lewin on guitar and vocals of Edge of the West, Tatiana Peña and Diana Zitmanis on backing vocals from Floratura and Edge of the West, Josh Salesin on keyboards from FunkUrSoul, Sebastian Hegenbart on bass from Redwood Express, and Michael Owens on drums from China Cats. The name honors Tiger, Jerry Garcia’s most-played guitar and the last instrument he used with the Jerry Garcia Band, a fitting nod to the stories behind the music. Woodhouse Blending & Brewing welcomes the Craig Rayburn Band from Santa Cruz for an afternoon set of country and American rock. The lineup features Craig with Andrew Tuckman on drums, Nick Heinz on guitar, Tom Lavenhagen on bass, and Eliza James adding backing vocals. Admission is $10. Grammy-winning artists George Kahumoku Jr., Daniel Ho, and Tia Carrere come together for a performance that celebrates Hawaiian slack key guitar, ukulele, and traditional songs. Kahumoku, a multiple Na Hōkū Hanohano Award recipient and accomplished vocalist, storyteller, songwriter, author, teacher, sculptor, and farmer, also leads the weekly Slack Key Show on Maui, which has showcased leading musicians for more than two decades. His music draws on roots that reach back to the early 19th century, when Portuguese immigrants brought the ukulele and Mexican cowboys introduced guitars to Hawai‘i along with ranching traditions. Ho is a versatile multi-instrumentalist on ukulele, slack key guitar, piano, and vocals who produced several of Kahumoku’s Grammy-winning projects and has also earned Grammys with Carrere. Carrere, an international star recognized for early breakout work in Wayne’s World and later roles in film and television including Lilo & Stitch and Jo Koy’s Easter Sunday, returned to her Hawaiian heritage through Grammy-winning albums created with Ho. Together they offer a rich blend of tradition, virtuosity, and radiant compositions that share the warmth of aloha.

Tuesday Night Live returns to the Wharf Common's stage, presented by the City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department, Choose Santa Cruz, and the Santa Cruz Wharf Tenants. This installment features Fish Hook (formerly Santa Cruda) performing live. Make an evening of it by browsing Wharf business pop ups or reserving a dinner table before the music. Tuesdays are celebrated as Locals Tuesday, and a stamp validation from any Wharf business provides two hours of free parking. Bring a chair or get ready to dance. Smoked Out Soul, also known as S.O.S., channels a Bay Area style groove that fuses the punch of a live band with the flow of a DJ set. What began as Zebuel’s mixtape project blending 1970s Motown and Stax with modern beats has grown into a collaborative live show where musicians, producers, and DJs perform together. Expect classic soul and funk refreshed with contemporary production, live horns, guitars, drums, and synthesizers, along with high energy DJ segments. With appearances at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, and Lightning in a Bottle, the group delivers a dynamic, genre crossing experience that animates the plaza with a lively summer night vibe, grounded in soul with a futuristic twist. Jazz on the Plazz concerts are free and open to the public, with designated general admission areas throughout Los Gatos Town Plaza. Guests may bring lawn chairs and picnic items. Blankets are not permitted. Reserved seating in front of the stage is available for purchase and often sells out in advance.

ACES is back at Music on the Hill at Santa Teresa Golf Club, powering the summer series with faithful, high-energy renditions of iconic rock and dance favorites. These seasoned musicians take on demanding songs that showcase their skills, creating an energetic performance that feels like a journey through a renaissance of beloved hits. The setting is an outdoor perch at the top of the hill, with panoramic views of the golf course, garden spaces, and a gazebo that makes a great sunset photo spot. Bars will be serving ice cold beverages, and the BBQ will offer burgers and hot dogs, along with a crisp green salad with chicken. Outside food and drinks are not permitted. Admission is free. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy a beautiful evening under the stars.
