Ninja Mountain Bike Performance brings a full weekend of skills clinics to DeLaveaga Park in Santa Cruz, offering sessions for beginners, intermediate riders, and seasoned trail enthusiasts. Nancy’s work appears in Best American Poetry, Best New Poets, and numerous anthologies and journals, and her honors include an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship and a special mention in the Pushcart Prize anthology. Ellen Bass has praised her poems for their compassion, wisdom, and intensity. Nancy also co-founded an organization that brings poetry into jails and offers workshops for marginalized youth across the county. Adela’s fifth collection, Variations in Blue, was published in 2025 by the Letras Latinas and Red Hen Collaborative. The California Arts Council recognized her as an established artist in the Central California region and named her an Individual Artist Fellow. With family roots in Nicaragua, she serves as Board President for Círculo de Poetas and Writers and collaborates with the Latinx community nationwide at the intersection of creative writing and social justice. The program includes wine and refreshments, time to socialize, and a question and answer session with both poets about their writing and their work bringing poetry to marginalized communities. This outing is intended for experienced divers who are comfortable with cold-water shore diving and managing equipment in active surf. Plans depend on weather, swell, and wave conditions, and the site will be dived only if conditions are appropriate. A casual coffee ride rolls out from Peet’s in Los Gatos and follows Los Gatos–Saratoga and Saratoga–Sunnyvale Roads, then winds through the Monte Vista neighborhood to Foothill before continuing into downtown Los Altos. There is a mid-ride stop at Manresa Bread in Los Altos for coffee and treats. The return heads back via Foothill, Homestead, the Mary Avenue Bridge, De Anza and Stelling, covering roughly 34 miles round trip. Santa Cruz Warriors Lacrosse, also known as SCCLA, offers a weekly, no-travel summer league for boys and girls ages 4 to 10 in Santa Cruz County. Kahumoku, a multiple Na Hōkū Hanohano Award recipient and accomplished vocalist, storyteller, songwriter, author, teacher, sculptor, and farmer, also leads the weekly Slack Key Show on Maui, which has showcased leading musicians for more than two decades. His music draws on roots that reach back to the early 19th century, when Portuguese immigrants brought the ukulele and Mexican cowboys introduced guitars to Hawai‘i along with ranching traditions. Ho is a versatile multi-instrumentalist on ukulele, slack key guitar, piano, and vocals who produced several of Kahumoku’s Grammy-winning projects and has also earned Grammys with Carrere. Carrere, an international star recognized for early breakout work in Wayne’s World and later roles in film and television including Lilo & Stitch and Jo Koy’s Easter Sunday, returned to her Hawaiian heritage through Grammy-winning albums created with Ho. Together they offer a rich blend of tradition, virtuosity, and radiant compositions that share the warmth of aloha.
