Grounded in Diné perspectives, his sonic and visual practice centers Indigenous voices and sovereignty, guiding visitors through the expansive landscapes of Navajo Nation. At its core is the seven channel video installation “The Naming of Names,” which weaves Ray Bradbury’s science fiction narratives with mid twentieth century footage recorded by foreign travelers in the 1950s and 1960s. Silent film excerpts from the Prelinger Archives in San Francisco are paired with a soundtrack of field recordings and electronic music composed by the artist, reframing deserts and canyons of the Southwest as otherworldly while questioning limited historical narratives and the colonial gaze behind the original images. Layered topographical drawings of Tséyiʼ, also known as Canyon de Chelly, and Valles Marineris on Mars accompany the installation, connecting canyons across planets and compressing notions of time and space. Coffey Park returns to The Oak with a dance-ready mix of classic rock. The venue offers attentive service, a full bar, satisfying food, a picturesque setting, and a spacious floor for moving to the music. All ages are welcome. A cover applies, and reservations are recommended for those planning to enjoy dinner, drinks, and plenty of sing-along moments.

Build on your salsa foundation with a friendly level two class focused on adding style and smoothness. It is intended for dancers who have completed a first beginners course and are comfortable with the basic step, left and right turns, the cross body lead, and maintaining a steady frame. You will expand your social dance toolkit with a cross body lead series that includes both inside and outside turns, an I turn, you turn pattern to sharpen timing and hand changes, a walk through that trains seamless travel without breaking rhythm, and a footwork combination you can use as a shine. Technique is a priority as well, with coaching on clear leading and following through balanced tension and compression in the frame, drills to isolate ribcage and shoulders for authentic upper body motion, and practice creating a grounded yet responsive arm connection so your partner can feel each lead. No partner is required, and participants are asked to wear non marking soles to protect the floor. Instruction is led by Lucie Ebnerova. Arriving a little early is recommended.

This in person and online program offers a donation based open sitting on the last Monday of each month. Participants can settle into a short Green Tara visualization practice followed by a brief talk on the dharma, with time devoted to quiet meditation. The gathering is intended as a supportive space to find calm and steadiness amid uncertainty and change. No prior experience is required, online participation does not require registration, and the in person option is hosted at Wisdom River Meditation Center.

Harlow’s presents The Wildwoods at The Starlet Room in Sacramento. The Lincoln, Nebraska trio blends folk Americana with an indie edge, drawing on influences like Nickel Creek, Gillian Welch, Bon Iver, and Mumford & Sons. Their fourth full-length album, Dear Meadowlark, explores the pull of home and the comfort of familiar places during long stretches on the road, themes that surface through close harmonies and thoughtful songwriting. The lineup features Noah Gose on vocals plus acoustic and electric guitar, Chloe Gose on vocals and violin, and longtime friend Andrew Vaggalis on vocals and upright bass. Recent recognitions include finalist honors at the Rocky Mountain Songwriter Contest in Red Lodge, Montana and in competitions at the FreshGrass Music Festival and VHS Gems in the Rough, along with semifinal placements in the International Songwriting Competition for songs such as Untitled and Way of Train. This event is all ages.

Discover Argentine Tango with Tango On Broadway at Mission Oaks Community Center. Thanks to a standing offer from the community center, a newcomer’s first class is free. Instruction is available for both beginners and intermediate dancers, and the beginner option also works well for exploring the opposite role. A practice session follows the classes. Attend solo or bring friends and learn in a welcoming, supportive setting. After the complimentary first visit, pricing is $10 for the entire evening or $30 for a full month. Expect about 60 questions spread across two hours. Checking answers on phones is off limits. Winners can revel in glory and maybe even pick up a few physical prizes.

The War And Treaty bring a rich blend of country soul shaped by gospel roots and classic country and Memphis soul influences, led by the married duo Michael and Tanya Trotter. Over the years they have grown from audience favorites to awards-season regulars, earning nominations from the Academy of Country Music, the Country Music Association, and the GRAMMYs, along with recognition from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry. The Americana Music Association has honored them as Duo or Group of the Year two years in a row.
