After playing the song onstage with her band over the past year, she captured it live in just a few takes with Justin Andres on bass and vocals, Carey Frank on keyboards, Nick Maybury on electric and acoustic guitar, and Elias Mallin on drums. A second guitar solo on the track comes from friend and collaborator Joe Bonamassa, a three time Grammy nominee, and it represents their first studio recording together. Her career started at 13 and includes performances and tours with Carlos Santana, Steve Vai, Alice Cooper, Richie Sambora and Dave Stewart. She was chosen for Michael Jackson’s This Is It Tour and appears in the concert film. Geoff Tate brings the culminating chapter of his Operation: Mindcrime project to the stage, featuring the music performed with a live string ensemble and accompanied by a laser light show. The multi platinum, Grammy nominated singer and songwriter is known as the longtime voice and creative leader of Queensrÿche, a band that sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and toured in over 50 countries. Their 1988 concept album Operation: Mindcrime is frequently referenced alongside classics like Tommy and The Wall, and the follow up album Empire surpassed three million in sales and delivered the hit single “Silent Lucidity,” which earned a Grammy nomination and became the group’s first Top 10 song. After leaving the band, Tate continued the story under the Operation: Mindcrime name with a trilogy of concept albums released from 2015 to 2017, and he continues to perform around the world celebrating this influential body of work. This recurring program takes place on the second Friday of each month, unless a holiday shifts the schedule. The fee is $10 per container, based on a standard banker box measuring about 12 by 10 by 15 inches. Payment can be made with cash or by check made out to Paper Cuts. For a fast drop-off, pack documents into banker-style boxes and write SHRED on each one. Place the boxes in your trunk or back seat with your payment sealed in an envelope on top, then remain in your vehicle while volunteers take care of the unloading. Thelma Houston appears at The Canyon Club & Special Events Center. The Mississippi-born singer launched her career in the 1960s with the Art Reynolds Singers, moved into solo work at Capitol Records with the hit “Baby Mine,” and released the Jimmy Webb written and produced Sunshower before joining Motown. There she reached the top of the pop, R&B, and dance charts with “Don’t Leave Me This Way,” a Gold single that earned a Grammy for Best R&B Female Vocal Performance, marking the first time a solo female Motown artist received that honor. Her career spans notable television specials, collaborations with artists such as Chaka Khan and Mavis Staples, and performances around the world from the Hollywood Bowl to stages in Las Vegas. She is a member of the Dance Music Hall of Fame, has been honored as an Apollo Legend, and continues to record and perform, including recent work with Morrissey and dance producers Bimbo Jones. In addition to her music, she supports organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign, the NAACP, and AIDS-related charities. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The program features a reception with champagne, both silent and live auctions, a gourmet dinner, entertainment, and awards that recognize the commitment of brain injury survivors, professionals, and caregivers. Across Ventura County, thousands of children and adults live with lasting effects of brain injury from causes such as motor vehicle accidents, falls, sports injuries, military service injuries, stroke, and other illnesses. The Brain Injury Center serves more than 750 survivors and their families each year. Event proceeds help sustain services including individualized support, education, Care Transitions, Trabajador(a) de Salud, support groups, advocacy, and care coordination, ensuring these resources remain available at no cost to survivors and their families.
