This weekend in Santa Maria, CA

Now in its second year, this car show takes place at Santa Maria High School, with entry through the Thronburg Gate. Proceeds support Cross Country Kids. Vehicle registration is available, and additional details can be found on the event flyer.

Start the morning with a relaxed walk at Los Flores Ranch Park. Follow a two mile route with gentle inclines while observing summer blooms, plants, and animals. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring water. Plan to meet at the visitor center.

At Oak Park Christian Church, neighbor volunteers will be on hand to repair broken items. Repairs include sewing and jewelry, work on electronics and bikes, and help with lamps and other small appliances. It offers a friendly way to get everyday items working again with community know-how.

Enjoy an evening of live music and stand-up comedy at Presqu’ile Winery, hosted as a fundraiser for OASIS Center (Orcutt Area Seniors in Service). The night features Joe Daddy, Corkscrew Comedy, and headliner Shawn Jones. Doors open at 5:00 PM, with the show starting at 6:00 PM.

Elwin Mussell Senior Center hosts a Hawaiian Dance presented by the Santa Maria Valley Senior Citizen Club, highlighted by music from Riptide Big Band. Guest dancer Yuka Freeman and vocalist Mitch Latting add to the festivities, while the band, a seventeen piece ensemble of Central Coast musicians and singers, delivers a mix that ranges from swing-era favorites to light rock of the 1980s. Wear a Hawaiian shirt, learn a few hula steps, and enjoy dancing to lively arrangements. A $5 donation is appreciated, and there are opportunities to win and advance.
