Dear Steve... it's Allie/RiC Field trip

Boulder · Canyon Theater and Gallery, 988 Canyon Blvd

Musician and storyteller Allie blends tradition and technology in a live performance that moves between music, memory, and conversation. She performs on piano and mountain dulcimer, layering in archival voices, electronics, and symphonic textures while singing and narrating a dialogue with her younger self, Steve. The journey reflects on a heartland childhood and a devoted father seen from a distance, alongside the life she leads today as a trans composer and artist. Prompted by an invitation from an evangelical cousin to return to her hometown and attend church, Allie frames the piece as a road trip back to Steve’s boyhood home. Along the way she speaks to what went unseen at the time and to the forces that shaped them both. A Q&A follows the performance. The event welcomes all ages, with adult accompaniment recommended for younger children.
