The 4th Annual Community Economic Development Summit X BWS Fest

SKIRO Studios , 295 Treadwell St, Hamden · verified Aug 3
    See details

Further, together sets the tone as the 4th Annual Community Economic Development Summit aligns with the 5th Annual Black Wall Street Fest, the largest Black-owned festival in Connecticut. The festival honors legacy, and the summit focuses on building the infrastructure that sustains it. This gathering creates space for memory, truth, strategy, relationship, and responsibility. Over one evening, people reflect on what was built, acknowledge what was taken, and work toward what can be inherited. The program moves through four chapters. Memory looks at the rise of New Haven and the legacy of enterprise, land, culture, faith, and self determination, offered as instruction rather than nostalgia. Truth traces a parallel timeline that connects Tulsa and New Haven to show how thriving Black economic ecosystems were disrupted and how those patterns persist. Restoration treats renewal as a civic act, bringing together leaders across justice, food, housing, reentry, public safety, and civic power to share what liberation work looks like in practice. Ascension opens a deeper conversation about leadership, trust, responsibility, and the lived journeys behind public achievement, featuring Black women leading across New Haven institutions. The night closes with The Commitment... one connection, one action, one contribution carried beyond the room. The event is free and open to all, designed for all ages, and families are welcome. RSVPs are requested to support planning. Presented by Communities for Generations, Inc. and The Elements of Abundance, in collaboration with the 5th Annual Black Wall Street Fest. Collective effort is our superpower.
