Discover how ideas become objects in this playful, hands-on workshop for children. Guided by handcrafted miniatures inspired by Dancing Trees, the new Plaza seating by Kazuyo Sejima & Associates, young participants set out on a scavenger hunt through the Plaza to match each small model with its full-size sculptural bench. After seeing how designers translate concepts into form, everyone heads into the studio to craft an original clay model, shaping and molding a design they can hold. Open Arts Studio offers a site-specific creative experience that invites younger audiences to explore the building, its shapes, and the ideas behind them. This ongoing series is offered weekly and is led by Grace Farms Arts Educator Nancy Jameson. Recommended for ages 4 to 11 with adult caregivers.

Wonderland of Icei9 Sports Summer Camp, July 27-31
Hosted at Dolan Middle School, this i9 Sports Summer Camp puts kids first by creating a safe, supportive place to try multiple sports and grow through positive coaching. Over five active days, young children rotate through soccer, baseball, and flag football, practicing dribbling, passing, hitting, fielding, throwing, catching, running, defense, and teamwork, with small scrimmages and opportunities to sample other activities such as volleyball or track and field. The program focuses on fun, safety, age-appropriate fundamentals, and good sportsmanship, and ensures that everyone gets to participate. Certified coaches who have completed background checks lead with encouragement and clear instruction. An on-site Site Manager and Program Coordinator help the day run smoothly and support families, players, and coaches. Each participant receives an official i9 Sports multi-sport jersey included with the program fee. Families are encouraged to watch, cheer, and share in the experience.

The all-ages open mic returns to Park City Music Hall with an updated format that welcomes performers from across the creative spectrum. Musicians of any genre, spoken word artists and dancers can submit for consideration through a form on the venue’s event page during the stated submission window, and selected artists are contacted about a week before the event. Performances should be suitable for all ages, with radio-style edits requested to avoid profanity or suggestive content. Friends and family are encouraged to support the performers. A full kitchen and bar are available on site. Guests 21 and over can order alcoholic beverages, while those under 21 can enjoy craft mocktails and soft drinks, with wristbands used to distinguish ages. Attendees under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Food service begins when doors open and continues until the Kitchen Open light is turned off.

This edition takes place at Main Squeeze Juice Bar. Residents, business owners, artists, visitors, and community stakeholders are all welcome in this friendly Downtown setting. Multidisciplinary artist Xinan Ran, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking’s July 2026 Artist-in-Residence, leads an informal conversation in the Grace Ross Shanley Gallery focused on the work she has been creating at CCP this summer. The talk centers on Silk Compass, an evolving mapping project that pairs time honored printmaking with materials and technologies from contemporary digital life. Ran repurposes printed circuit boards recovered from discarded GPS devices as etching plates, opening a dialogue about how cartography, electronics manufacturing, memory, and systems of navigation connect. Through layered prints, hands on experimentation, and a willingness to learn through repetition and failure, Silk Compass considers how both physical maps and algorithmic routes shape ideas of place, history, and homecoming. The program is free to the public and offers time to hear directly from the artist about her process, research, and residency while viewing work produced at CCP this summer.

An evening spotlighting Connecticut rock history brings together The Name Droppers and David Hull & The Dirty Angels, honoring their connection with the late Charlie Karp. The program blends familiar tunes with fresh material and stories drawn from decades of music, highlighting the natural interplay between the two bands. Launched in the 1980s by Charlie Karp as Charlie Karp & The Name Droppers, The Name Droppers continued after his passing in 2019. The lineup features Grammy-winning bassist Scott Spray and Classic Drummer Hall of Fame inductee Bobby T. Torello, and the group has released five studio albums since 2020. Their latest, Cool Blue Shoes, reached number one on the Roots Music Report Blues Rock chart in 2025. Bassist David Hull, known for work with Aerosmith, James Montgomery, and Buddy Miles, leads David Hull & The Dirty Angels with guitarist Pete Cassani and drummer Stephen Hart. The Dirty Angels first took shape in the 1970s with Hull and Charlie Karp, classmates at Staples High School in Westport, who left school to perform with the Buddy Miles Express. Early appearances included opening for Jimi Hendrix at the Staples Center in LA. At Park City Music Hall, guests will find a full bar and on-site kitchen offering craft cocktails and a selection of bites. Food service begins when doors open and continues until the Kitchen Open light is turned off. The venue is primarily standing room, with limited seating available on a first come, first served basis when offered.

The afternoon session highlights work by high school and college writers. A judging panel chooses the standout piece from this block, and that play advances to the evening session. New this year, an Audience Choice Award invites a live vote after the final curtain to select a crowd favorite. Front row seats are complimentary on a first come, first served basis until they are gone. Otherwise, tickets are $24 per session for adults and $12 per session for ages 18 and under, with full day passes available for $40 and $20. For 2026, the course has changed due to damage at Danford's Marina in Port Jefferson, and the entire event shifts to the Connecticut side of the Sound. The distance remains 15.5 miles, beginning at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, continuing past Jennings Beach in Fairfield, and concluding at Black Rock Harbor with a celebration at Captain's Cove. With the start set along the Bridgeport shoreline, spectators have easy access to watch. All Friday and Saturday activities take place in Bridgeport, with Steelpointe Harbor accommodating boaters on Friday and Captain's Cove hosting the celebration on Saturday afternoon. The public can cheer as swimmers reach the finish, followed by an awards ceremony once all participants have arrived. Organizers are seeking swimmers, boaters and kayakers, volunteers, donors, and sponsors, and every role helps provide meaningful assistance to patients in need.

This Age of Sigmar megabattle features two sides, with the Armies of the Fall defending against the chaotic Legions of Vilehand. Each team offers six slots. Their global footprint includes appearances at major festivals such as Big Ears, Bonnaroo, WOMAD, Roskilde, and the main stage at Glastonbury. Honors include the Shevchenko National Prize for Musical Arts, globalFEST’s Artist Award, and recognition as Chevaliers of the Order of Arts in France. Drawing on traditions shaped long before 2022 while carrying the realities of the present, they share a give and take that presents Ukraine as a cosmopolitan culture in conversation with the world. Connecticut’s biggest card show is back, as the Northeast Sports Card Expo: Connecticut brings 45,000 square feet of exhibits and more than 350 vendor tables to Chelsea Piers Athletic Club. This family friendly event offers a wide range of new and vintage sports cards, plus non-sports and Pokémon cards, Funkos, toys, TCG, sports memorabilia, and other collectibles. Look for meet and greets with celebrity guests and autograph signings featuring sports legends and wrestling stars, along with card grading, prize raffles, sports mascots, event hosts, and more. Many free autograph opportunities are included with paid admission. The first 200 attendees will receive a free commemorative official show poster designed by Connecticut-based artist Eric Panke. Tickets are available online or at the door by cash or credit card. General admission is $20 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday. Early Entry tickets are $25 on Saturday and $20 on Sunday, plus Eventbrite fees. Kids under 12 are free.

Launched in Tennessee in 2023 in response to anti-drag legislation, this Nashville-based roots collective is billed as the first and only tribute act to weave drag into the Dead’s legacy. What started as a one-night idea quickly sold out, drew attention from major outlets including Rolling Stone and the San Francisco Chronicle, and evolved into a seasoned touring project. On stage, the band channels the late 70s and early 80s Dead sound and pairs it with commanding female vocals. The performance follows the classic two-set format over about three hours, with a new setlist each time.
