    DakhaBrakha

District Music Hall, 71 Wall St, Norwalk · verified Jul 31
    See details

Presented by Premier Concerts and Manic Presents, this performance at District Music Hall features DakhaBrakha, a Kyiv-based quartet whose self described ethno chaos merges Ukrainian folk polyphony with rhythms and textures from India, Arabia, Africa, and Australia. Expect textural layers built from propulsive percussion, deep bass, distorted electric guitar tones, and threads of jazz, spoken word, rap, and punk. Formed in 2004 at the Kyiv Center of Contemporary Art DAKH under theater director Vladyslav Troitskyi, the group brings a strong theatrical sensibility, with striking projections by Ukrainian artists that vary from bright and celebratory to somber and curious, reflecting many facets of life and culture in Ukraine. Their global footprint includes appearances at major festivals such as Big Ears, Bonnaroo, WOMAD, Roskilde, and the main stage at Glastonbury. Honors include the Shevchenko National Prize for Musical Arts, globalFEST’s Artist Award, and recognition as Chevaliers of the Order of Arts in France. Drawing on traditions shaped long before 2022 while carrying the realities of the present, they share a give and take that presents Ukraine as a cosmopolitan culture in conversation with the world. The band is currently recording its first album since 2020 in Kyiv, combining material created both before and during the full scale invasion. This is an all ages show.

    Bella Rayne

Park City Music Hall, 2926 Fairfield Ave, Bridgeport · verified Jul 31
    See details

Park City Music Hall hosts the Bella Rayne Band for a night of high-energy, guitar-forward jam rock that blends Southern roots, 90s grunge grit, and a psychedelic vibe. Led by 18-year-old Bella Rayne, a self-taught guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter born in the mountains of North Carolina and raised on the Mendocino coast, the project draws from rock, Americana, bluegrass, and the jam-band tradition to create a sound that feels both classic and new. Bella began during the pandemic by restoring a Stratocaster she found in the garage and learning to play by ear. Her rapid rise has included appearances with Allman Betts Family Revival, Melvin Seals & JGB, ALO, Jackie Greene, Oteil Burbridge, and members of Terrapin Family. She was spotlighted by Susan Tedeschi in Guitar World as a talent to watch, and the Grateful Guitars Foundation entrusted her to perform with Jerry Garcia’s famed Alligator guitar, a defining milestone in her story. The band features a youthful yet experienced lineup delivering soulful Southern rock, modern Americana, fresh takes on Grateful Dead material, and original songs that continue to build demand at venues and festivals. Beyond the stage, Bella partners with the Grateful Guitars Foundation to support music education, visiting schools and encouraging young people, especially girls, to pursue their musical dreams. All ages are welcome. General admission is $20 plus online ticketing fees. Park City Music Hall offers a full bar and kitchen serving craft cocktails and delicious bites, opening at doors and remaining available until the Kitchen Open light goes off. Seating is very limited, as the venue is primarily standing room, and when seats are available they are first come, first served.
