Strictly Business, a Southwest Connecticut cover band, brings a dance-ready mix of pop, rock, R&B, and funk. Sharing the bill, Dayko is a college group that blends originals with covers across pop, rock, and indie, performing together for up to six years and continuing to play shows throughout Connecticut. All ages are welcome. General admission is $10, plus online ticketing fees. Park City Music Hall features a full bar and kitchen serving craft cocktails and a variety of bites. The kitchen begins service when doors open and remains available until the “Kitchen Open” light is turned off. When arriving, enter through South Benson Marina, let the gate attendant know you are visiting the park, then turn left to park. The park is open to the public and has ample room for a group walk.

The new starting line at Seaside Park brings the action to the shoreline, giving spectators a close view of this long-standing tradition. Event activities are centered in Bridgeport, with boaters gathering at Steelpointe Harbor and a community celebration at Captain’s Cove. The effort welcomes swimmers, boaters and kayakers, volunteers, donors, and sponsors. Organized by Sustainable Trumbull in partnership with TerraCycle, Planet Green Recycling, and TREX, the drive focuses on materials that do not belong in curbside bins. Items should be used but clean, and all brands are accepted in the listed categories. Common contributions include plastic film and stretchy bags labeled #2 or #4, oral care waste such as toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes and flexible packaging, and floss containers, along with razors and a wide range of cosmetics and beauty packaging like makeup containers, cream tubes, and deodorant sticks. Hairstyling tools such as curling irons and hairdryers are welcome, as are eyeglasses and contact lens waste, writing instruments including pens, markers, glue sticks, mechanical pencils, and highlighters, and clean plastic takeout containers, noting that black plastic is not accepted. Squeeze pouches from items like applesauce and baby food can be dropped off, as can textiles in any condition including linens, clothing, and shoes, plus printer ink cartridges and toner, black plastic flower and plant pots, and phone cases with pop sockets. Brand-specific packaging for Late July chips and Entemann Little Bites is also collected. Larger plastic bottles, such as shampoo containers over 2 inches, should go into regular curbside recycling instead. This recurring effort takes place on the second Saturday of each month and runs alongside the THS Marching Band redeemable drive for bottles and cans. Baystate Textile bins are also available at Hillcrest and Madison schools for drop-off at any time, with Saturday curbside pickup by appointment through Helpsy Co.

The Downtown Milford Business Association presents its 17th Annual Wine Trail, a leisurely, foodie-friendly walk through downtown that toasts the end of summer while supporting The Milford Junior Major League. Boutiques and other local businesses open their doors to pour a variety of wines, paired with tastings from Milford restaurants and eateries. After purchasing tickets in advance, attendees begin at the DMBA booth by Milford Bank to pick up a wine glass and a map of the Wine Trail stops. Tickets are $50, and proceeds are a nonrefundable donation to The Milford Junior Major Baseball League. Wine is provided by Hartley & Parker Distributors. Celebrated as Downtown Milford’s unofficial start to the fall season, this event brings the community together across participating stops in the heart of the city.

The Other Four brings a special Columbus Day weekend show to Left Field Sports Bar And Grill, blending a planned jam with invited friends into the band’s regular performance. This is not an open mic, since guest musicians are confirmed in advance. Those who hope to take part are asked to contact the band by private message. The Other Four is a four piece rock group from New Haven. Their set focuses on recognizable rock songs that avoid the usual overplayed picks, shaped by influences from blues, country, jazz, funk, and roots Americana. They have performed along the Connecticut shoreline from Fairfield to Ivoryton, and that breadth informs this collaborative program.
