Begin the day with a mixed-level yoga class held on the waterfront deck by the Jacky Durrell Pavilion at Penfield Beach. Participants meet on the Jacky Durrell Deck, and if the weather is poor the class shifts to the nearby Penfield Pavilion deck, which is covered. Pre-registration is required, there are no walk-ins, and space is limited. The drop-in fee is $30. Beginners are welcome, though those new to yoga are encouraged to start with a beginner class. Please bring a mat, any props you prefer, and consider sunscreen and bug spray as needed. A beach sticker is not needed at that time.

Exchange Club of Norwalk is hosting a diaper drive at Stop & Shop in Darien, with donations benefiting Help for Kids. Help for Kids is a Stamford nonprofit dedicated to the prevention of child abuse in Southern Connecticut and providing support for families in Fairfield County. The effort is organized by Exchange, known as America’s Service Club, a group of men and women who work to make communities better through Americanism, community service, youth activities, and its national project, the prevention of child abuse. Diapers collected at this event will aid Help for Kids in its work with area families.

White Plains Hospital Screenings Under the Stars is a film series from Westchester County Parks and Sharc Creative. Festivities take place before each screening, followed by the feature. The event is set to go on rain or shine, but screenings may be cancelled due to inclement weather. A single session pottery wheel experience for families, designed for parents with kids, tweens, or teens who want to try the wheel. Premier Concerts and Manic Presents welcome DakhaBrakha to District Music Hall for an all ages performance. The Kyiv quartet builds its sound on Ukrainian polyphony, braiding in rhythms and melodies from India, Arabia, Africa and Australia, with layers of driving percussion, deep bass, gritty electric guitar and touches of jazz, spoken word, rap and punk. They describe this boundary-blurring mix as ethno chaos, a vision shaped by years on stage and by a present defined by war. Founded in 2004 at the Kyiv Center of Contemporary Art DAKH by avant garde theatre director Vladyslav Troitskyi, the group brings a strong visual dimension to concerts, with projections of animations by Ukrainian artists and images of daily life that range from bright to somber, reflecting many facets of the culture. They are troubadours, activists and educators whose name, meaning give and take in an older form of the language, captures a spirit of exchange that connects Ukraine with the wider world. Their international resume includes appearances at Big Ears, Bonnaroo, WOMAD, Roskilde and the main stage at Glastonbury, along with the Shevchenko National Prize for Musical Arts, globalFEST’s Artist Award and recognition as Chevaliers of the Order of Arts in France. They are currently recording their first album since 2020 in Kyiv, uniting material written before and during Russia’s full scale invasion.
