The members first connected as teenagers in Adelaide while playing in other projects and bonded over 90s alternative favorites like Pavement and Sonic Youth, then started writing together. Rooted in Appalachian and Mid-Atlantic Rust Belt regions, slowdanger merges sound, movement, and media into a seamless continuum. Founded in Pittsburgh in 2013 by partners taylor knight and anna thompson, the duo blends body-driven performance with a sound palette that draws from experimental club, noise, and ambient influences, layering processed vocals and textured timbres to create settings that encourage both attentive listening and physical response. Zach Mason shapes improvised electronic drones that treat the room itself as an instrument, capturing its ambient tone, transforming it through successive rounds of recording and amplification, and folding those traces back into the performance.
