DelArt Film Society: The Wild West

Delaware Art Museum, 2301 Kentmere Pkwy, Wilmington · verified Jul 31
    See details

Once the dominant force in Hollywood, the Western helped forge a national myth built on survival, double-crosses, second chances, and vengeance. The DelArt Film Society explores that legacy, sifts legend from truth, and looks at how shifting values led to the genre’s decline, then to inventive comebacks that proved it still has life. This installment features Rebel Without a Cause (1955), following a defiant teenager with a troubled past as he enters a new town, forms fragile bonds, confronts rivals, and shapes the template for the modern teen drama while solidifying James Dean’s cultural status. Outside food and drinks are not permitted, but water bottles are welcome, and a refill station is located near the auditorium.
