HollyWEIRD #199 The Summer of Love TieDye Ride

A tie-dye themed community bike ride under the HollyWEIRD banner celebrates the spirit of the 1967 Summer of Love with a burst of color and creativity. Participants are encouraged to wear their brightest tie-dye, whether handmade or store-bought, and to show off imaginative bike and outfit tweaks. The vibe is laid back and social, with plenty of chances to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new ones. Starting at Hollywood Public Library, the route cruises the backstreets of Hollywood with a pause at scenic South Lake, then continues to the blue wall on Hollywood Beach along the Broadwalk. Stops include Margaritaville’s public restrooms and Food King by Ocean’s 13 for sandwiches and refreshments, and there are opportunities to cool off in the ocean. A group photo stop wraps up the seaside stretch before everyone heads back to the library. Some riders linger on the beach afterward, meet at Nick’s, and enjoy live music at Margaritaville. All bikes are welcome, and the more unusual the build, the more it fits the playful spirit. Tie-dye is not only a colorful statement of peace and love, it also has a knack for hiding a little ketchup or mustard if snacks get messy.

The Science of Guinness Book of World Records

Explore how unusual records transform into feats of human performance grounded in real science. This interactive exhibit invites visitors to investigate human biology, psychology and the mechanics behind record-breaking, then put those ideas to the test with hands-on challenges of strength, focus, reflexes and endurance. Real-time leaderboards track results, and there is a chance to earn an official Guinness adjudication. It blends STEAM learning with playful competition and shows that anyone can aspire to be a record breaker. Begin with an immersive video that traces the origins of Guinness World Records and how it became the leading authority on achievements. Learn what makes a record official through a quiz that unpacks the scientific principles and criteria. In the exploration areas, see astonishing examples, aim for top scores in attempt zones and gain insights from both an official adjudicator and a scientist. Build concentration with memory challenges, tactile puzzles and games inspired by techniques used by record holders. Test reaction speed in quick-response activities, monitor progress on the live boards and discover strategies to improve. Push stamina with tasks like a hang bar and balance boards, paired with explanations of muscle fatigue and endurance science. Wrap up with a video of inspiring record-holder stories and a photo moment with official certificates to picture yourself in the record books. The exhibit is included with Museum admission. Presented locally by Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.

Double U Art Gallery - Grand Opening

The grand opening of Double U Art Gallery introduces a contemporary space in Fort Lauderdale shaped by a collector’s sensibility for work that feels thoughtful and full of life. The inaugural program presents Brazilian and international artists across painting, sculpture, and collectible objects, blending structure and repetition with play, color, and gesture. Rather than follow a single style, the gallery highlights pieces with an easy clarity that fit naturally into daily life. The guiding idea is that art can be reflective without feeling heavy, and that the strongest works keep revealing more over time. This opening marks the debut of a place for discovery, conversation, and living with art.

Ecstatic Dance Miami ~ June 27th Full Moon Immersion

An immersive evening of movement and restoration invites participants to let go of stress, meet the moment through freeform dance, and settle into deep calm as the Full Moon approaches. The experience weaves together connection practices, yoga, contact improvisation, and an expansive ecstatic dance journey guided by DJ Alejandro, creating space to release heaviness, move stagnant energy, and allow the body to lead into clarity and joy. It begins with an optional community potluck, a meet and greet, and an opening circle, then flows into a grounding deep-embodiment warm up before the dance. Full Immersion guests transition afterward into Aquatic Rebirthing, an introduction to Watsu, Waterdance, and aquatic healing. In a pristine heated saltwater pool, partners explore gentle back-floating, rhythmic cradling, stretches, and supportive movement designed to invite profound relaxation. The pool is salt water, ozone and UV sterilized with no added chlorine, and kept near body temperature to help the nervous system unwind. The night closes with a crystal sound bath to support integration and a quiet return from the journey. This is an intimate setting for committed ecstatic dancers. It is not a pool party. Alcohol is not part of the experience, shoes are off on the dance floor, and conversation is kept minimal in the dance space, with talk reserved for designated social areas. Poi, spin toys, and fire spinners are welcome. Wear something that feels magical, bring a bathing suit and towel, and consider a bathrobe for comfort. The gathering takes place at a private retreat with a heated saltwater pool, a grassy garden, a fire pit, and a chillout area. Capacity is limited and parking is very limited, so carpooling or rideshare is encouraged. Exact directions are shared by email with registered guests, and the address is not posted publicly. The aquatic segment is capped at 16 participants. Late arrivals are not permitted once the dance is underway. Tickets are sold in advance only and are not available at the door. Options include Ecstatic Dance only at $30, Full Immersion with aquatic work and sound healing at $55, and a couples Full Immersion at $100. Refunds are available up to 24 hours before the start, excluding platform fees. Within 24 hours, tickets may be exchanged for a future event of similar value if space allows. Community care is requested. Please stay home after known exposure or at the onset of symptoms. Masks are welcome and not required.

Gundam TCG: G-GENERATION ST10&EB01 Battle Royale Release Event

Celebrate the Gundam TCG with a G-GENERATION ST10 and EB01 release event built around the Battle Royale multiplayer format. Each participant constructs a 40 card deck using four EB01 booster packs. Before play begins, pods choose one of two ways to win. In Winner Takes All, the game ends when a player deals battle damage that defeats an opponent with no Shields, and anyone whose deck hits zero cards is out. In Last Player Standing, players are eliminated if they take battle damage with no Shields or if their deck runs out, and the game continues until only one player remains undefeated. Battle Royale follows standard two player rules with a few changes. Turns pass around the table in a chosen direction. In card text, enemy or opponent means every other player. You can target any opponent with effects or attacks. When an effect requires action from everyone, start with the current player and proceed in turn order. For action timing, priority begins with the next player after the active player and moves in order until all pass. The tournament uses Modified Sealed in pods of three or four. Entry is TBD and capacity is limited to 18 players. All participants receive four EB01 packs for deckbuilding, winners of each Battle Royale earn Winner Promos, and each pod selects an MVP Pilot who receives an MVP Promo.

Director's Book Club: "Culpability" Hollywood

A conversation with Allison Grubbs, Director of Broward County Libraries, spotlights Culpability, a family drama that examines ethical responsibility in a technology-driven world. After the Cassidy-Shaw family’s self-driving minivan collides with another car, seventeen-year-old Charlie is at the wheel with his father, Noah, in the front passenger seat. In the back, tweens Alice and Izzy are on their phones, while their mother, Lorelei, a leading figure in artificial intelligence, is focused on work. Each person carries a hidden truth that connects them to the tragedy. The novel explores a landscape reshaped by chatbots, driverless cars, drones, and other nonhuman systems. Acclaim includes selection by Oprah’s Book Club, appearances on best-of-2025 lists from the New Yorker, Kirkus, and Real Simple, recognition from the Washington Post, inclusion in NPR’s Books We Love, and placement on the 2026 Aspen Words Literary Prize longlist.
