What Every Parent Should Know About Bottle Feeding

At Lactation Station Florida, this hands-on class offers practical guidance for anyone using bottles, pumping, combining methods, or preparing ahead. The first portion focuses on choosing formula, with clear explanations of what differentiates each type, how to read labels without getting lost in marketing, when cow’s milk based, specialized, or gentle options may be appropriate, and which situations call for a conversation with a pediatrician. The second portion centers on confident bottle feeding, including how to select bottles and nipples and understand flow rates, the basics of paced feeding and why it helps protect babies, reading hunger and fullness cues, positioning for calm feeds, how much and how often to offer, avoiding overfeeding, safe preparation and storage for formula and expressed milk, strategies for combo feeding, what nipple confusion really means, and how to respond if a baby refuses the bottle. Instruction comes from Dr. Irissa Rosario, MD, a board-certified pediatrician with fifteen years of experience supporting newborns and their families, together with Giovana Rorato, IBCLC and owner of Lactation Station, bringing hands-on lactation expertise so both medical and lactation perspectives are covered in one place. Participants compare real formula options side by side, handle different bottles and nipples, and practice paced feeding techniques, with time for questions throughout. Snacks and tea are provided. This trio bowling tournament features four games on the same pair of lanes, with total pinfall deciding the standings. The payout is set at a 1 in 4 ratio, and a full field awards five cash spots. Handicap is 70 percent of 230, and a minimum entering average of 110 is required. Averages are based on the highest current Bowl.com number with at least 21 games from 2025–2026 or 2024–2025. If none, the highest 2023–2024 yearbook average with at least 21 games on Bowl.com will be used, and if still unavailable, records will be checked back up to three years. If there is no qualifying average, the bowler competes scratch. When a current average differs by 10 pins or more from the previous season, a composite average will be created. 3D Mammography Screening Event

A nationally recognized 3D mobile mammography and breast health education program is coming to Oviedo at Grant Chapel AME Church. The Beautiful Gate’s Mammograms After Sunday Service initiative, honored with consecutive national awards for its health equity model, offers convenient screenings designed to be comfortable and accessible for people with or without insurance. Uninsured Florida residents may qualify if they live in the state, do not have health insurance, have not had a mammogram within the past year, are ages 40 to 64, or are under 40 with a first-degree family history of breast cancer or symptoms, and have income at or below 200 percent of the poverty level. Women of any age who have completed treatment for breast cancer may also be eligible. Insured Florida women who are due for their annual screening can schedule directly with 3D MammoLink. Those at average risk typically begin mammograms at age 40, and most insurance plans cover screening mammograms with no out-of-pocket cost. Participants who schedule, keep their appointment, and complete a virtual breast health session receive a free gift card. A handicap doubles tournament with a new format and updated entry fee features multiple cuts and clean slates between rounds. The opening stage consists of four doubles games on the same pair of lanes, after which the field is trimmed to the top quarter who cash, and scores do not carry forward. Cashers then bowl one additional doubles game, scores reset again, and the field is reduced to the top half. A single final game determines all finishing positions. The lane condition is modified, and the cash ratio pays 1 in 4 teams. The entry fee is $100 per team. Handicap is 70 percent of 230. Averages are based on the highest current Bowl.com average with a minimum of 21 games for 2025–2026, or if none, the highest 2024–2025 yearbook average with at least 21 games on Bowl.com. If neither is available, up to three prior years in the book will be checked, and if still none, the player competes scratch. When a bowler’s average differs by 10 pins or more from the previous season, a composite average will be created. The tournament director may re-rate any average, and after participation in six handicap events an average may be reviewed for possible re-rate. The minimum entering average is 110. Youth bowlers are not eligible under USBC Rule 400 for doubles, trios, or team tournaments. If a paid entry does not show, the fee is forfeited. Side action includes $5 handicap singles brackets and $5 scratch singles brackets, $10 handicap and $10 scratch high game pots, and optional $25 singles for scratch, handicap, senior, and women, plus a $25 SIB All In Pot. 14th annual Tunnel to Towers Orlando Run & Walk

Callisto Sextet with Jeremy Fratti | October 9 | Blue Bamboo

Callisto Sextet teams up with saxophonist Jeremy Fratti for a performance at Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts. The group blends folk, rock, and soul with a jazz-forward sensibility, placing expressive melodies and lyric-driven storytelling at the heart of the music. The lineup features singer songwriter and guitarist Hannah Stokes, Jeremy Fratti on saxophone, Patrick Moreno on piano, Abe Alam on guitar, Marco Bojorquez on bass, and Jeremy Katalenic on drums. These in-demand Central Florida musicians bring notable experience, having worked with artists such as Ira Sullivan, Kurt Elling, Pat Metheny, and Sam Rivers. Their backgrounds include tours with the Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller orchestras, as well as appearances at renowned venues like Blue Note, Iridium, and Smoke Jazz Club in New York City. The program highlights inventive arrangements of songs by James Taylor, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, and Antonio Carlos Jobim, alongside selections from contemporary artists including Bon Iver and Alexi Murdoch. The Rat Pack Lounge Winter Park Playhouse

Day’s Trips is organizing a theater outing to Winter Park Playhouse to see Rat Pack Lounge for $105 per person. The bus departs from PSL with a pickup in Vero and travels to the theater for the performance, then there is time in Winter Park to choose a restaurant for dinner, which is not included. The musical comedy imagines Frank, Dean, and Sammy returning for one night to honor a promise, featuring favorite hits such as My Way, Come Fly with Me, Ain’t That a Kick in the Head, and Everybody Loves Somebody. Payment is due at booking. Tickets are nonrefundable, but they can be transferred to another person.
