Cuplet Fern Florida Native Plant Society is tentatively planning a large fall native plant sale at the Museum of Seminole County History in partnership with the county museum. A broad selection of Florida natives will be available to purchase, including wildflowers, grasses, trees, and shrubs. Admission is free and open to all, and RSVPs are requested to help with planning. Cuplet Fern members receive a 10 percent discount on plants only, not on other merchandise. The discount applies to current members, with on-site verification and renewal available. Pre-orders are not being taken, and purchases will be handled through sale requests. For cash payments, totals will be rounded up to the nearest dollar, and card purchases will include applicable processing fees. Gardeners may also want to note that late January and February are considered the best window in Central Florida for planting native trees and shrubs because cooler temperatures support root establishment before the warmer, drier months. See details

Haunted Tours returns to the Museum of Seminole County History, presented by the Seminole County Historical Society, with three nights of small-group, guided walking experiences through the museum campus. Tours last about an hour, group size is capped at 15, and most of the route is indoors in air-conditioned spaces, so the event runs rain or shine. An extra night has been added by popular demand. Guests may bring their own ghost-hunting tools or use equipment provided on site while a costumed guide shares accounts of uncanny happenings drawn from the museum’s past. Recent reports surround the 2026 Semiquincentennial exhibit, including unexplained footsteps after closing and speculation about a 19th-century preservationist unsettled by changes made during filming for a USA 250 documentary project. Stories highlight Seminole County’s colonial-era echoes, enduring museum legends, and incidents reported by staff, volunteers, and visitors. Along the way, the tour may touch on the figure known as Tio Juan, said to be linked to the remnants of the 3,500-year-old bald cypress called the Senator, lost to arson in 2012. The museum’s rare basement in Florida is often cited as the most active area, with tales of a poltergeist named Nick who is reputed to be unfriendly toward women. After a quiet spell, disturbances reportedly resumed in 2022 and intensified this year, possibly tied to the reappearance of a female spirit connected to his story. E-tickets are required and must be purchased online. All sales are final, no refunds are offered, and reselling is prohibited and will void the ticket. A confirmation email from the historical society serves as the e-ticket for entry.
