This event features a book signing with Lora Bunch Carr, author and illustrator of Roots to Light: Poetry and Prose. Photographer Patti Blake leads an advanced Milky Way photography class on Shell Island in Panama City, Florida. A charter boat provides round-trip transport, then the group practices long exposure techniques along the shoreline under the stars with personalized guidance from a local astro-landscape expert. This session is designed for photographers who already use manual settings and can set focus to infinity. Participants should bring a camera, a wide-angle lens and a sturdy tripod, along with a spirit of adventure. Waterproof bags can be helpful, and shoes that can get a little wet are recommended. Enrollment is limited to five students and the fee is $250.

Panama City Ballet is holding a casting call for The Nutcracker 2026 at Tonie's Dance Studio. Dancers of all levels are welcome, and no experience is required. Everyone who attends will receive a role in this community production. Rehearsals begin with the setting of the ballet, followed by weekly Sunday sessions, with breaks on Labor Day weekend and the Sunday after Thanksgiving. The production then moves into the theater for daily practices leading up to a special invited performance, school shows, and public performances. New this year, participants ages 5 to 7 will have shorter rehearsal times to help keep the youngest dancers rested and happy.

These are volunteer organized pick-up games that emphasize learning the sport, building fitness, and having fun. This is not a club, league, or officially organized team or event. There are no club affiliations, no formal teams or standings, no dues or memberships, no referees, and no insurance coverage. Participation is entirely voluntary and at your own risk, and it is for adults ages 18 and up. Bring water and beach or workout gear, bring a positive attitude, and expect teams to be formed based on whoever is present.
