OLLI Game Day: Esport Showcase
Part of the OLLI Summer Games at Sarasota Art Museum, this esports showcase features Meghan Burrows highlighting competitive Pokémon Champions play. Expect live online matches in both the official ranked doubles format and singles, using the season two Regulation M-A rule set. Attendees can learn why this title has remained a staple of modern esports, how players adjust to an ever-shifting metagame, and the current conversations around AI, sometimes called bot, use in online communities. The broader Summer Games also offers classic tabletop favorites such as chess, checkers, Scrabble, Monopoly, Sarasotaopoly, and Mah Jongg, with space for participants to bring their own games. Admission is free, and optional preregistration is available by phone or online.
