Bruce Henning's Gearhead Mayhem Car Show

Created in memory of Bruce Henning and his passion for cars, this family-friendly car show takes place at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds. Vehicles of all kinds are welcome to participate, including cars, motorcycles, trucks, and tractors. Open to all ages. The fairgrounds will offer food and beverages for purchase.

10th Annual Mountain Bike Kids Race

This free, family-friendly kids mountain bike race at Cloie Creek Park takes place on the trails and focuses on outdoor fun with a touch of friendly competition. Children race in age groups of 6 and under, 7 to 9, and 10 to 12. On-site registration is available at the pavilion. Riders are encouraged to bring bikes, helmets, water bottles, and their best cheering voices. Journey to Restore Your Core- A 5-week Movement and Healing Series

Experience a supportive five-week movement and healing series that reconnects you with your whole core, not just the abs. Led by Soda Zelene and informed by the Restore Your Core approach, the program blends breath, alignment, mindful movement, and body awareness to cultivate functional strength, stability, balance, and overall well-being. You will explore how everyday movement patterns affect your body and learn practices that can improve core and pelvic floor function. The pace is gentle and suitable for beginners, and every exercise can be adapted so you can move more comfortably and with confidence. This series may be especially helpful if you are dealing with core weakness or instability, back, hip, or pelvic discomfort, pelvic floor concerns, incontinence or leaking, diastasis recti, posture or balance challenges, or tension related to stress. Goose & Giggles Play Cafe hosts Craft Tuesday, featuring a simple, hands-on project that little ones can make during open play. Setup and cleanup are handled so caregivers can focus on the fun and a coffee while kids create and explore. Geared toward toddlers and young children who like to stay busy, it runs throughout the day every Tuesday. This edition highlights a pillow or pajama decorating craft. The activity is included at no extra cost with the purchase of an Open Play Pass.

Summer Camp (Students Entering 1st-5th Grade)

Set your young explorer up for a summer of discovery at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium. Designed for children entering 1st through 5th grade, these camps deliver interactive learning and hands-on fun all season long. The Living History session takes place at the Mathias Ham Historic Site and immerses campers in stories of Westward Expansion, the Victorian period, the Driftless landscape, early Dubuque settlers, and everyday life along the Mississippi River. Participants try time-honored chores from pioneer days, take part in lessons in a one-room schoolhouse, step into a log cabin to see how families lived, explore a recreated lead mine, and visit the restored Ham House. Taste of Summer

Taste of Summer returns to the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, transforming the boatyard after hours into a riverfront gathering filled with local and regional food and live music against the backdrop of the Mississippi River. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets, with a limited number of picnic tables available. The event is open to all ages and no general museum admission is required. Entry is a $5 donation that supports the River Museum’s conservation efforts, and sales of beer, seltzer, and other beverages also benefit these programs. Food vendors will compete for the People’s Choice award, selected by a panel of River Museum staff, volunteers, and community members. Elizabeth Mary Live at Stone Cliff Winery (Solo Acoustic)

Elizabeth Mary brings a solo acoustic performance to Stone Cliff Winery. Based in Madison, Wisconsin, she is a country vocalist, wife, mom and children's book author who grew up on a dairy farm in eastern Iowa, where music was a constant from an early age. Influenced by 90s country and pop, she spent years performing across the Midwest with popular cover bands before stepping out on her own in 2018, leaving a 14-year career to focus on music and forming The Elizabeth Mary Band. She now plays more than 170 acoustic solo, duo and full band shows each year at small venues and large festivals such as Brat Fest and Taste of Madison. Her sets span country, pop, classic rock and original material, and she has opened for artists including Clint Black, Lorrie Morgan, Sara Evans, Collin Raye, The Bellamy Brothers, Jordan Davis, Lonestar, Thompson Square and Priscilla Block.

Jessie Rebik leads an exploration of painting as a visual language within Western art. DBQFest 2026

The longest-running arts fair and festival in Iowa fills historic Washington Park in downtown Dubuque with a free, family-friendly celebration of art, music, creativity, and community. Across two days, discover work from 57 regional artists and makers and enjoy performances by more than 150 professional musicians and performers, along with hands-on art activities, youth showcases, theater, yoga, poetry, community organizations, and local food trucks. The Visual Artists & Makers Market features original paintings, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, woodworking, glass art, photography, textiles, and more, all available directly from the artists. Live music and performances span two stages in the park, the Ironside Main Stage and the Gazebo Stage, with a diverse lineup that ranges from jazz, singer-songwriter, and R&B to classical ensembles, family entertainment, youth dance and music, live radio theater, electronic sets, Shakespeare theater, classical crossover violin, and spoken word. Headlining sets include Allison Mahal and Sun Centauri. A new After Hours program extends the festivities into the evening with free, no-cover performances at downtown venues, including The Goose with Lame Witch and Ion Alexakis and The Lift featuring Joel Sires and Run Dog. Beyond the music, look for yoga, poetry, theater, interactive art experiences, community booths, and a variety of food options, with beverage service provided by EJ’s Wine Shop. Some streets around Washington Park will be closed during festival hours and parking restrictions will be in effect. A facilitator shares announcements, then the group moves into a structured sharing period in which anyone who wishes may speak for several minutes without interruption or feedback. Alzheimer's 5K and Half Marathon - 14th Annual

Join the 14th Annual Alzheimer’s 5K and Half Marathon at Heritage Pond Campground in Dubuque. The 5K follows an out-and-back route starting at Heritage Trail Pond near Highway 52, going over the bridge and toward town. The Half Marathon and relay run an out-and-back route heading west toward Durango, finishing on the 5K portion, with details noting a detour due to construction. Water stops and Gatorade and gel packs are planned along the course. Packet pickup is available on Friday, August 14 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on race morning from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM.

This plant swap takes place at Dimensional Brewing Company. Bringing at least one item is required to participate. While items are sorted, there is time to mingle with other plant lovers, enjoy brewery beverages, listen to live music, browse local artists’ wares, and take part in earth-minded activities. When the swap begins, participants may select up to five new plants, pots, or supplies to take home. After everyone has had a chance to make a first pass, re-entry for additional items is welcome. A raffle runs during the swap with plants, prizes, and shop goodies, including a few rare plant babies, and proceeds benefit an earth-minded organization.

MoS100 Course Preview+Pre-Race Social!

This free public meet-up offers a relaxed preview of the Mines of Spain 100 course ahead of the October race weekend. Runners of every pace and experience level can choose how many miles to cover, then gather for a potluck picnic social at the start and finish area at Louis Murphy Park to refuel, rehydrate, and talk through race plans. Support is planned around mile 10.5 near Cattesse AS#2 with water, Tailwind, and snacks. If the weather is warm, additional water is expected near miles 4 and 12 by Sauk Fox AS#1. Experienced trail runners familiar with the route will lead pace groups so participants can focus on the trails and the camaraderie of new and old friends. The course will not be marked as it is on race day, so staying with a group or treating it as light exploration is recommended. A GPX file will be available for devices, and common phone apps can provide real-time course following. Anticipate several pace groups for the approximately 20 mile loop with finish times around 3.5 to 5 hours, along with options to shorten the route. After the run, hot food will be provided. Attendees are welcome to bring appetizers, sides, or desserts to share, along with a cooler of favorite beverages.

The 2nd Annual Live Like Cam Fall Fundraiser brings the community together to celebrate Cameron’s life and support the work of the Live Like Cam Foundation. Hosted at The Key Hotel, which is connected to Q Casino, Island Social, and the Hilton Garden Inn, the gathering features an afternoon and evening of music, great food, raffles, live and silent auctions, and Live Like Cam merchandise. The Kids Corner returns with activities for younger guests, creating a family friendly experience. In less than a year, supporters have helped award 13 scholarships to local students, contribute more than $30,000 to communities, and expand opportunities for youth through the Cascade Archery Program, the Potosi Trap Shooting Team, youth snowmobiling, fishing, and other outdoor activities. The foundation has also provided donations to local schools, the Grant County Humane Society, and other community organizations, co-hosted a free Kids Fishing Day, and promoted motorcycle safety and organ donation awareness through education and outreach. TRUNK -or- TREAT! - Dubuque County Fairgrounds & Event Center

At the Dubuque County Fairgrounds & Event Center, this trunk or treat offers a night filled with fun and plenty of sweets. Admission is $1 per person for all ages. Trunker registration is open, and with more than 2,000 kids attending last year, those handing out treats are encouraged to prepare for 1,000 or more visitors. For safety, trunkers are asked to remain until everyone has gone through the line. Creative trunk setups will be on display, with trophies awarded for the most imaginative designs, the best treats, and the coolest trunker costumes.
