The Sioux City Explorers take on the Chicago Dogs in an independent professional baseball game. Based in Sioux City, Iowa, the Explorers have competed since 1993 in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

The Sioux City Symphony Youth Orchestra presents the fifth annual Summer Strings Camp, a weekend program for young string players at every level. Participants work with SCSYO conductors and staff alongside professional musicians from the Sioux City Symphony, building skills through technique sessions, small ensemble coaching, and rehearsals with string orchestra. Two learning paths are offered. An advanced track serves students with a minimum of two years of playing experience and includes the option to take private lessons with symphony musicians. A junior track features a shorter schedule tailored to beginners entering grades 4 to 6. The experience wraps up with a side by side performance on stage at the Orpheum Theatre together with Sioux City Symphony Orchestra musicians. A 20-minute early literacy session designed for babies from birth to 12 months and their caregivers. You are welcome to bring a blanket to create a comfortable spot to sit with your baby.

This event welcomes all. It features a presentation on what makes snakes unique, along with an opportunity to meet Walt and Blaze, the two snakes that live at the nature center. After the presentation, participants can head out on a hike to look for snakes in the wild. No registration is required.

Create a story through art with a hands-on session focused on Picture this: story drawings. Students explore a variety of media, including painting, printing, drawing, assemblage, clay, and sculpture, and take their artwork home at the end of class. Dress for a mess and invite friends to come along. No pre-registration is required, pay as you go. Multi-media art projects are $7 per project, with payment due at the beginning of class. Children 7 years and younger may participate when accompanied by an adult who will assist with the project.

Experience the culmination of the Sioux City Symphony Youth Orchestra's 5th annual Summer Strings Camp at the Orpheum Theatre in Sioux City. Following a weekend of training with SCSYO conductors and professional musicians from the Sioux City Symphony, the camp's young string players will perform to showcase their progress. The program starts with the Junior Strings Camp, then the Upper Camp plays alongside musicians of the Sioux City Symphony. Admission is free and open to everyone.
