Artisans Expo & Supply Swap Meet

Hearst Center for the Arts, 304 W Seerley Blvd, Cedar Falls · verified Jul 31
    See details

The second annual Hearst Art Supply Swap Meet at Red House Artist Studios welcomes community members to pass along gently used art and craft materials so they can find a new life in someone else’s project. Bring one item or a few you no longer use and trade for something you will, or make a goodwill contribution to support Hearst’s classroom programs and take part in the exchange. Supplies can be dropped off at Hearst during open business hours only. Suggested items include paints, brushes, markers, crayons, yarn, knitting and crochet tools, previously used canvases, frames and mats, paper, stamps and scrapbooking materials, ceramics and glass tools, quilting and sewing fabrics, and lighting or props used for painting. All donations should be usable and in good working condition, and organizers ask that expired or dried out supplies and common household recyclables like toilet paper tubes or egg cartons be left out. Alongside the swap, the sixth annual Artisans and Summer Expo brings local makers to the Hearst Sculpture Garden and galleries with artwork available to purchase and creative activities for all ages. Visitors can explore weaving with The Northeast Iowa Weavers and Spinners Guild, make crafts with Thursday Painters, see blacksmithing with Uncle Stinky, try hands-on projects with the Hearst Ed Crew, work with clay on the patio with Ceramic Lab Tech, Amythest, and enjoy music from Ally Bagenstos.
