Camel's Back Park06/27/26 Discover the Blues: Cyanotype Basics Workshop
An artist from the Treasure Valley, Jessie Swimeley, leads a hands-on introduction to cyanotype at Church of Christ. This classic photographic technique creates vivid blue and white images on paper or fabric using sunlight and the silhouettes of items such as leaves, lace, keys, small keepsakes, or large photographic negatives. The session explores the basic chemistry, how various surfaces respond, and principles of composition. Participants can print with their own negatives or arrange organic materials to design unique pieces, then leave with several finished prints ready to become a quilt block or to enhance other projects. Please note that cyanotype is best suited to art quilts, since the images are not wash durable and may deteriorate with frequent contact with skin oils.
