Southside Critical Mass hosts a social pop-up group ride on Chicago’s South Side, beginning from Nichols Park. This free ride focuses on using cycling to make local neighborhoods more bikeable and more livable while also supporting area businesses. Routes can change, and the ride generally spans about 15 to 20 miles at a moderate rolling pace of roughly 10 to 14 mph. Riders are encouraged to bring a helmet, water, bike lights, a lock, a jacket, and some money. Participation is at your own risk, and each person is responsible for their bike’s condition, personal fitness, and safety. Southside Critical Mass assumes no liability, streets may present hazards, and safe riding with a helmet is strongly recommended. Rides do not take place during winter months or in inclement weather.
