6th Annual Rock Monsters Tournament

Catfish anglers gather at Martin Memorial Park for the 6th Annual Rock Monsters Tournament, a team competition focused on flathead and channel catfish. Teams of one to three anglers fish the boundary waters from north of the Milan Dam to the Wisconsin border. Each team may use up to six rods and present a five fish bag. Rod and reel are required, with no bank poles or other methods allowed, and boats must remain at least 50 yards from any anchored boat. Entry is $75 per team, with an optional big fish category for $25, and participation is limited to 30 teams. All fish must be alive and healthy and must be released, and any fish that does not swim away under its own power will result in disqualification. Registration takes place at Martin Memorial Park before fishing begins, no lines may enter the water until the official start, and chips must be returned by the posted deadline to avoid disqualification. Disputes are handled by tournament directors Jon Race and Ernest McKee, and cheating will result in disqualification and a permanent ban from Rock Monster Tournament Series and Monsters on the Fox Tournament Series events. Hosted by Michael Palmenderi and Druseph Yeti, this night welcomes first-timers, newer comics, and regular performers to try new jokes or fine-tune material. The top three sets will move on to the 815 Comedy Fest showcase shows. This is a PG-13 environment so material should stay within those boundaries. Light swearing is acceptable, but heavy profanity is not. Jokes can be suggestive without getting graphic. Dark or edgy humor is fine, but avoid content that is violent or disturbing. Hate speech, slurs, and targeting marginalized groups are not allowed. Think of the tone as similar to a PG-13 movie. There are 20 spots available. The evening is hosted by Matt Hall, a Rockford comedian with nearly two decades on Midwest stages who also hosts a morning radio show on 104.9 The X. Guest features include Alex Savant, an award-winning Rockford comic and co-producer of Chill Pill Comedy whose voice ranges from barroom grit to sharp theater-ready satire in the working-class vein of Pryor and Carlin, and Michael Palmenderi, who delivers energetic, physical comedy about chronic pain, breaking into musical-style bits, and life as a notably hairy person. Palmenderi has a theater background, graduated from Second City Chicago’s Conservatory, and has performed in numerous productions around Chicagoland. A special guest feature will be announced at the show. Kevin Haas, a Rockford journalist known for offbeat observations, also hits the stage and appears regularly around the Midwest. Greenwich Village Art Fair

The inaugural BOOBazaar, presented by Lou Is Local 815 (LIL815), is a Halloween-themed craft show supporting A Silver Lining Foundation, which helps provide breast cancer screenings for people with low income or limited insurance through local hospitals. Created in honor of Dawn, owner of Quilted Creations Plus and a breast cancer survivor, the event aims to help neighbors in the Rockford area access essential screenings and treatments when strong insurance coverage is not available. Entry is a minimum 5 dollar donation that covers admission for up to five adults older than 12 and includes five raffle tickets. Gift baskets will be raffled with proceeds directed to A Silver Lining Foundation, and extra raffle tickets are 1 dollar each. Fall Channel Challenge

Martin Memorial Park hosts a team-based channel catfish tournament on boundary waters stretching from north of the Milan Dam to the Wisconsin border. Teams of one to three anglers may fish with up to six rods and a five fish limit per team, and the field is capped at 30 teams. Entry is $50 per team, with optional $25 side pots for Big Channel and Big Flat. Only rod and reel methods are allowed, and anglers must keep at least 50 yards from any anchored boat. No lines may be in the water before the official start, and a chip check-in is required by the stated deadline or disqualification may occur. All fish must be alive and healthy and must be released; if a fish is not lively or does not swim off on its own, disqualification will result. Cheating results in immediate disqualification and a permanent ban from RMTS and MOTF events. Disputes are handled by tournament directors Jon Race and Ernest McKee. Milwaukee-based guitarist Tommy Odetto presents a solo set rooted in blues rock. Originally from Marin County, California, a center of 1960s music, he channels a deep appreciation for vintage blues and classic rock, interpreting songs associated with Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, B.B. King, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The performance also includes original pieces shaped by those influences.

Rockford Comic, Toy, & TCG Card Show @ CherryVale Mall Oct 17-18 Free Event

Quad Con transforms CherryVale Mall into a pop culture marketplace, spreading across both levels with creators and vendors. Explore original art, meet independent authors, and browse a wide range of collectibles including action figures, Star Wars and Pokemon items, plushies, GI Joe, posters, Transformers, vintage video games, TCG cards, and a large selection of comic books. 9th Annual Jaimie Cox Memorial 5k Run/Walk

Now in its ninth year, the Jaimie Cox Memorial 5K Run/Walk comes to Roscoe, Illinois and is billed as the community’s largest charity 5K. The Jaimie Cox Foundation, established in 2019 and registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, works to support veterans, first responders, and underprivileged members of the community by bringing people together. Jeff Dunham: Inappropriate Contact

This show features Jeff Dunham, a veteran performer whose live appearances have drawn more than 7.7 million people across over 1,500 performances. His tours have spanned nine international runs with appearances in more than 20 countries. On screen, he has created 13 record-setting comedy specials and holds three of the five highest rated programs on Comedy Central. His 2019 Netflix special, Beside Himself, remains among the five most watched of all Netflix comedy specials. Together with his wife, Audrey, he supports the Jeff Dunham Family Fund, which directs a portion of every ticket to a variety of charitable causes.

The Hope & Anchor October Comedy Open Mic

Fats Productions presents a free comedy open mic at The Hope & Anchor, hosted by Michael Palmenderi. This welcoming show invites first-timers, newer comics, and seasoned regulars to try fresh material or polish their sets. Performer sign-ups are available, with 20 performance slots. Each comic receives 5 minutes on stage, while those traveling from outside the Stateline area receive 7 minutes and can secure a guaranteed spot by messaging the Fats Productions Presents Facebook Page. To keep the atmosphere positive for everyone, keep language mild and avoid heavy profanity. Material can be suggestive but not explicit, and darker jokes are fine as long as they do not become violent or overly disturbing. Hate speech, slurs, and targeting marginalized groups are not permitted.
