Set in Bloomington, Always a Little Bit Tipsy traces the journey of a boy whose early gentleness collides with strict ideas about masculinity. Pushed to conform, he crafts a tough exterior that distances him from empathy and wonder. Years later, he encounters drag, a space where bold performance reveals inner truths, and begins to reclaim the softness and play he once hid, piecing together a more whole self. The production is directed by Michael Grubb with assistance from Emily Solt, and the musical is written by Tom Slater, Ryan Chase, Nicholas Krohn, and Michael Grubb. Funding support for the project comes from the Bloomington Arts Commission.

At Indiana University McCalla School, an exhibition explores the Silk Road through music and craftsmanship. Now in its sixth year at Lake Monroe in Bloomington, this memorial tournament honors Paul Jolly and supports the scholarship established in his name, awarded annually to a qualifying graduate. Indiana's longest running and largest 5K sets off from the north side of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall and returns to the same spot at the finish. Hoosiers Outrun Cancer brings the community together to honor and remember those who have faced cancer. All proceeds power free cancer support services for anyone affected, including patients, survivors, families, caregivers and friends. MCHA’s 31st Annual Run for the Animals 5K, presented by The Dog House, is a chip-timed run and walk at Karst Farm Park, with part of the route traveling through the Monroe County Fairgrounds. There will be separate starts for runners and walkers. Awards and sponsor booths will be set up by the start and finish so families and participants can gather easily, with raffles and beloved pet contests to follow. Participation in the raffle and pet contests does not require 5K registration. All proceeds support the Monroe County Humane Association’s local programs, including accessible veterinary care, spay and neuter assistance, crisis housing, an emergency pet food and supply pantry, street outreach, and more. MCHA is a private 501c3 that does not receive national or tax-based funding. A clogging group will perform as part of the Martinsville Fall Foliage Festival at the Morgan County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 on the day of the show. This is an all ages event, and everyone must have a ticket. Outside food or drink is not permitted. Tickets are on sale now.

Enjoy a traditional black powder shoot at the lower range in Martinsville. Matches will feature paper and metal targets, with specific courses set at the range officer’s discretion. The entry fee is 5.00. The range officer is Glenn McC. A pistol match follows the main shoot, so participants should bring a pistol. An accompanying image references the December 1776 Battle of Trenton.
