This weekend in Bloomington, IN

Now in its sixth year at Lake Monroe in Bloomington, this memorial tournament honors Paul Jolly and supports the scholarship established in his name, awarded annually to a qualifying graduate. The tournament welcomes all participants, including those preparing for the Hoosier Open. A boat check will be conducted before takeoff, and late entries are accepted with a $20 late registration fee. The day also provides an opportunity to support youth initiatives and share memories of PJ at the Cutright Ramp.

Hosted by the SMVS posse of NCOWS, this monthly shooting match features six stages. Registration will take place before a required safety briefing for all shooters, and the match will begin right after the briefing. Eye and ear protection are required for everyone in attendance, and competitors must wear authentic pre-1900 Western attire, with no ball caps or T-shirts.

Upland Brewing Company’s Wood Shop hosts a National Public Lands Day celebration presented by the Indiana chapter. The program features talks by Gene Hopkins of the Archery Hall of Fame and Museum and Allen Pursell of the Sam Shine Foundation, with topics that include the history of bison and once-common Indiana birds, traditional archery, and conservation. Raffles and door prizes are planned, with items such as BHA’s “Wall of Guns,” treats and gift cards from Smoking Goose Meatery, and a custom traditional bow from Wolf Paw Archery.
