Photo 101 returns with a beginner friendly look at the basics of photography and how to get comfortable with your camera. Meetings are held in the conference room at the Bartholomew County Library on the second Monday of each month. Attendance is free. Bring a camera, any questions you have, and a curious spirit.

Set out from Crooked Creek SRA for a guided paddle that explores the quiet corners of Monroe Lake, including backwaters, wetlands, sheltered bays, and gentle streams. Over about two hours, the route offers scenic views, opportunities to see wildlife, aquatic plants, and distinctive shoreline features. Registration is required. The fee is $15 per person. Participation is limited to 10 people and restricted to ages 16 and up. Each participant must have at least two hours of prior paddling experience or have completed a Beginner Kayaking workshop. Bring your own canoe or kayak, or rent a sit-on-top kayak for an additional $20, with a 275-pound weight limit. Registrations are generally final, with no refunds or date transfers except in limited cases. You may transfer your spot to another person if the request comes from the same email used for the original registration and is received at least 48 hours before the start. If the instructor cancels due to weather, low registration, or illness, participants may move to another Explore Monroe trip on a different date or receive a full refund. Light rain typically does not stop the outing, but expected moderate to heavy rain, high winds, or thunder and lightning will result in cancellation. Any weather cancellation decision will be made at least a couple of hours before the scheduled start and shared with registrants by email. The trip may also be canceled for low registration if fewer than three people are signed up by the deadline, with notifications sent within a day of registration closing.

A community barn sale at Away A Day RV Campground features thousands of new and gently used treasures donated by local supporters. Shoppers can explore furniture, antiques, collectibles, household goods, boats, bicycles, toys, holiday decorations, books and records, CDs and DVDs, garden equipment, tools, electronics, pet supplies, craft materials, artwork, and more. Every purchase helps care for homeless dogs and cats in Brown County. Volunteers are also needed to prepare items by cleaning, sorting, and pricing, and to assist with moving and arranging larger pieces.
