They Call Me Genêt is an intimate solo drama honoring Janet Flanner and the Letter from Paris column she crafted for The New Yorker. Written and directed by D. Paul Thomas and performed by Jen Johansen, the piece carries audiences into Parisian cafés and salons on the Left Bank and follows Flanner’s voice across the interwar years and beyond as she reports on the city’s upheavals, romances, artists, and exiles. Her pages introduced American readers to figures like Hemingway, Picasso, Gertrude Stein, and Cocteau while tracing the ascent of modernism. The production also foregrounds Flanner’s Indiana roots and why acknowledging that beginning matters. Her Paris dispatches shaped American understanding of European politics, art, and society for decades, a reach and longevity that set her apart among Midwestern writers. CCR Friday Night
CCR Friday Night brings a full evening of dirt track racing with the Slingin’ Dirt Super Late Model Series headlining alongside A Modifieds, Crown Vic, Pure Stock, and Hornets. The action unfolds at the Marion County Fairgrounds. Adult admission is $20, kids ages 6 to 12 are $5, and children 5 and under are free. Gate purchases are cash, with an option to buy online if using a credit card. Military and first responders can receive an $18 cash price at the gate. Pit access is sold only at the gate, with adult racer pit passes at $40 and non racing youth pit passes for ages 10 and under at $20. A signed waiver is required for all youth entering the pits.

At Lucas Oil Stadium, Able Kompanie returns to GenCon with three days of competitive play and beginner-friendly sessions on the field. Five tournaments are planned across the event, featuring Team Yankee at 78 points in a Dynamic format, Mid War at 60 points in a Dynamic format with no Wildcard Units, Early War at 100 points that may use the Dynamic format if available, Mid War at 72 points in a Dynamic format with no Wildcard Units, and Late War at 92 points in a Dynamic format with no Leviathan Units. Each tournament consists of three rounds, with 28 player slots available each day. The current Extended Mission Pack will be used, and there are no Stance Limitations. Matchups are not guaranteed to be strictly Red vs Blue, although pairings will aim for that when possible, and the top two players will meet in the final round if they have not already played. The Starlighters Big Band brings the vibrant sound of the swing era with a 17 piece ensemble performing styles from the 1930s and 1940s, paired with popular vocal standards delivered by a featured singer. Formed in 1978 by musicians from the Speedway, Indiana area and launched under the guidance of Al Spangler of Speedway High School, who continues to perform with the group, the band is now led by Rod Hodnett. Presented as part of the 2026 Summer Concert Series, this performance is supported by Speedway Lions Club, Wessler Engineering, Fundae's Ice Cream and Sweets, and the Curtis and Jennifer Miller Family.
